OK as most of you know by now I'm now the owner of the Nesr WR426. What I need to know from each of the former owners is what mods were done and by who?

hmm, lets see I bought it new and had to put in a new spark plug at the dealer before i even left Salesman told me not to twist the throttle while it wasn't running, at the same time he was twisting while telling me not to
Grey wire cut (don't remember if i cut it or pulled it from the harness? ), and i cut the throttle stop screw. 120 miles later, i turned it over to it's second owner

    NESR bike huh?

    Let me think...

Amsoil 10-40 MC specific synth. changed every 2nd-3rd ride, air filter cleaned every ride, might find some red loctite on a few suspension parts (sorry).

Carb has never been apart in my ownership, fuel screw adjustments only.
    Throttle/clutch cables and controls all lubed/linkages greased/etc.

Also had a 52t rear (oe front) and a DID o-ring chain on it as well as a GYT skidplate last I knew.

I never cracked cases or anything silly, and never touched the clutch (or had a need to) in my time with er.

I do recall repacking the front and rear wheel bearings (w/new seals) with waterproof grease just before it's departure as well...but I might be mixing this up with my WR250...it's all sort of a blur

I beleive it also had an OE WR pipe on it at time of sale (to tame it a bit). A YZ pipe will add some juice to things, heh.

It's been a few beers since I turned a wrench on 'er, but if you come across anything specific that stumps you , post up...you still have a year left on the red carpet service

I didn't change anything from when I recieved it from Strangeguy except change the oil, clean the air filter a few times! installed tech screws and messed up the tread! Then sold it to Degs, (rented it rather!) and bought it back again !

Oh yeah replaced the # plate and headlight for $190 after hitting a tree dead on the light/bars while the "Chef" watched , seems he had a good feeling I was going to buy a tree, so he pulled over to watch... We had a good laugh about it after.. Well he laughed during and after! That bastid..

Oh, I didn't know you had accessories too

Pipe: That is (was) a brand new stock silencer off an 02 YZ426. However there is no s/a on the OE YZ pipe and the FMF one was the only one I could find that "might" fit and had a USFS stamp on it (handy if riding in state forests) and so... it fit. I still have the OE endcap kicking around if you ever want to repack and not deal with realigning the FMF end.

The dent: Perfectly matches the profile of the rear brake caliper below it and is like that from the factory. For those that like to triple doubles etc.

Hense the stock tripple in the box "O-SPARES"

As for who done it??? Or why ? My guess would be it's probably cheaper to replace the aftermarket ones, rather the OEM's, plus most likely a weight loss swap.

    Oooh yeah...stock triple

The triple that should be in the box is the OE one that came with er. I put on a 02 YZ triple which I beleive relocated the bars ~20mm rearward...or frontward, can't remember which but with the tank/seat combo i had at the time it just seemed like the right thing to do. It made so much of a difference I even forgot about it

I don't know if I made it clear above but both of the pipes you currently hold should have a S/A on them already. The WR boatanchor and the YZ one (if the endcap/screen is still there).

I dunno if it still has the Michelin M12's on both ends but I seem to recall putting in some bridgestone ultra tubes as well. I also recommend ignoring the factory PSI ratings and running ~12.5 avg. and going up or down based on what you're riding. I've been as low as 9.5 in tractionless slop and the M12 is down with it, but once you get north of ~14 you know everytime you twist the throttle because crap starts whizzing by your head.

should have clarified this a bit more, smaller crap starts flying by your head, at an increased rate of fire.

Well the stock WR pipe that is on there now has no s/a in it or just about anything else..lol. Mike (I think) removed most of it...lol. I'm going to replace the "custom" levers maybe next week and I'm looking into replacing the exhaust cam with an 03 yz450 cam so I can also get rid of the decomp lever

Hey now I took a good dump in order to form that brake lever that way! & I think Strange Guy was the one that shortened the Clutch lever by crashing. Remember that trick I told you about, cutting into the levers about 3/4's to half way up with a good notch out, so it has a good break point already and you will still be able to ride the day out!!

& if you look in the box you will find the rest of the exhuast. (S/A)Everything is just like the way I took it from Chris, & Degs!

Actually I'm thinking of putting AVS levers on it.. they're unbreakable (supposedly) they have a spring in them the allows them to bend backwards and then go back to normal.

The stock WR pipe has the spark arrest built in, and you cannot remove it without some cutting and splicing back together.

Do what you want with the 03 exhaust cam but i'll take the decomp lever ANY day over the autodecomp. After a few cold starts or a few bad spills when you flood the shit out of it, you'll understand why

My 00 YZ 426 starts 10x beter than my 04 WR450, and the WR even has a little grey push button

Really Marc? Are you serious about the decomp lever vs the autodecomp cams? Maybe I'll rethink the 03 cam swap then if that is true. I went riding today for a little while with a few guys from work after work again. Dammmm WR bit me... lol.. spit me off in a high side as I came outta a mud hole and caught a rock on the other side of it.. lol. Too bad my pressure suits on order and wasn't in yet... doh.. if so my elbow wouldn't have the scuffs on it that it does now. Need to ride somewhere other than Freetown with all the rocks everywhere.

    Dirtbikes are dangerous

Comparing my 03 YZ to the 01 WR you have...I'd stay with what you have. That WR has never had any issues starting on the first/second try. My 03 is handy sometimes, but when it stalls out I curse it. Flood it...ugh, don't get me started (ha, a pun even).

Those dudes you hear that are doing the cam mod are the ones that have issues kicking it 4-6-8 times to no avail. SOME of the WR's were really finicky, my WR250 was sort of moody like that. But that (specific) 426 was always tight.

AVS levers - save that money for factory connection or some pro tapers

Uhh no you can keep the rest of the lever thanks anyways.. going to look into the different brands this week then order a set that still keeps the decomp lever. But thanks for everyones input.. I'll save the money from the cam swap and just go with a good set of levers.
