I know helmets have come a long way in terms of manufacturing and safety... not really sure about this one though

Good concept but the helmet won't stay on your head long enough to do anything.

    EMS is concerned with 3 things. A, B, C.

    1. Airway... Gotta take of the helmet to secure it.
    2. Breathing... Gotta take off the helmet to help it.
    3. Circulation

But the point is that the reaction happens extremely quickly to prevent anything serious from happening inside the helmet until EMS gets there. The EMS crews aren't standing by the road waiting for you to fall...it takes them time to get there. So in fact the helmet does stay on your head long enough to do something...it doesn't matter after they get there and take the helmet off...this is all about what happens before then. Normally the insulation of the helmet would keep your head too warm before they could get to you.

I've read about this concept in the past, and its a great idea. It's the same way they were supposedly able to keep Kevin Everett from getting paralyzed, by immediately applying ice to his spinal cord. But this setup will be pricey.

They should make that permanent so itll keep you cool on hot summers day. Then maybe more people would choose to wear a helmet. I bet thatd help injuries more.

The article where I first read about it said the accelerometer could easily tell the difference between a drop and a full collision. Probably part of the reason it costs so much.

Not quite as protective as a fat hairy SAC on your helmet.
