HELP! my 05 600rr wont start!

    :

So I rode into work today (it was a little wet out, not sure if that caused the issue) and went I to leave and my bike wouldn't start.

I think it is the Fuel Injection becasue the bike isn't priming when I turn it on and the FI light thats suppose to come on for a a few sec's wont come on either.

I know that there are some people that know a lot about the 600rr's on here anybody have a clue what could be wrong???

I checked he fuses under the left faring and the couple fuses under the seat that I could reach with out tools and they all look good! Not sure if there is a special one to check out?

Now my bike is just sitting at my work and I don't even have a freaking way to get it home! FUCK!!!

Does the starter turn the engine over?

yes the starter runs everything looks normal except for the noise that happens when you turn the bike on (fuel pump i think) and the FI light doesn't come on for a the few secs like it's suppose to.

the Engine doesn't try to start, just the starter is going. no spuddering or anything like that

Yeah, that's your fuel pump you're supposed to be hearing.

I think the last time someone posted a similar issue it ended up being a ground wire or some connection near the upper fairing.

I'm thinking it has to be either the fuel pump went (ONLY 6k on my bike?) or something more simple like a relay or something like that.

why doesn't this shit happen when the bike is at home! it ran mint this morning on the ride in too and i hadn't started it in 5 days!

    Wirelessly posted (** BB 8830**: BlackBerry8830/4.5.0.138 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/105)

Ground wire seems like a more likely culprit

Goig to try and jump the Engine Stop Relay... i hope that works!

Does anybody have a truck around the Bolton area that could help me get the bike back house?? It's in Marlboro about 10 mins from my house...

Yes I have checked all the likely culprits, the starter is going but the fuel pump isn't priming when i turn it on. I got a hold of Degsy and he gave me a few things to try. It looks like this is an issue a few people have had on the 600rr forum too. I just got the bike back home now and I am going to fiddle with it and see if i can get it started.

Re: HELP! my 05 600rr wont start!

i had this issue a month ago (on my gixxer), and my negative battery terminal got loose while riding. if you rode in the rain, maybe one of your grounds got wet and shorted out.

didnt read the whole thread, but i assume you checked all the fuses too

Yeah steve, check the ground wires and any relays, I'm sure the fuel pump didn't go it's probably just not getting power, especially if you rode it in the rain. Get it fixed so you can ride Friday!

None of the ones I've had would.

check the fuses and relays again, then check the connection to the fuel pump.

It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?

Thanks for the advise EVERYONE I too think it was caused by some sort water issue.. , all the fuses were good and Degsy recommended I fiddle with the 2 main connectors to the front end and with some ground wires and finally the fuel relay (THANK YOU FOR HELP DEGSY!!).

Around 1:30am after fiddleing for 2 1/2 hours I was ready to call it quits As I was getting ready to walking out the door and I said to myself let me try it one more time... I turned the key on and switch the on/off a couple times then and presto! The Fuel Injection light popped on, the fuel relay clicked and the fuel system primed and it started perfect!

I tried it a few more times while switching it on and off, and fiddling with everything I was fiddling with before trying to make it cut out to see if it was a shorted wire or something and if I could pinpoint the issue and it started everytime like nothing was ever wrong in the first place!

I'm stoked it is running fine, but worried it is going to happen again... Any thoughts or suggetions as to what the actual issue was? Do you think I should get a new Fuel Relay and keep it in the trunk so if it happens again I can swith to a new one to see if the relay is some how half bad?

Something probably got wet Steve and it just needed to dry out, I would tape up all the connections real good to try and keep water out of the wiring.

ScubaMan, talk to Degsy. He used some electronics spray in between the main connector harnesses (blue and grey ??) on under the left side air duct covers. it's supposed to help prevent water/corrosion getting on the pins.

Yes the Blue and Gray ones... I am going to have to purchase some of this electronic spray and use it on everything electrical in there. I'm planning on calling him at lunch to thank him for his help last night since it was almost 2am by the time I got it started and I didn't want to call and have him be sleeping.

Thank you for all the replies guys it's nice to have people you don't even really know helping you out!!

Where do you work? I know my F4i has a tip over sensor. You will get all the symptoms that you had if your bike has been tipped. To clear it you need to turn the key on and off a couple of times.

It wasn't tipped over unless someone did it while I was in work (not likely since there are no marks on it), i still don't know why the Fuel Injection wasn't priming the fuel system but this was the issue i was having.

I plan on riding it a couple times and finishing the ride at my house incase it happens again then I wont have to find someone with a truck to get it back here.

THANK YOU Pigman!! it sucks having a Honda Civic when you need to move something! I interior paint on the side and I can barley fit my little giant ladder and all my painting gear in there. I am planning on getting a cheap and decent truck when I pay off the bike just to use when I need it and to plow with in the winter and keep the Civic for just regular here and there shit.

BTW... we had ramps and we still had to use a hill because the bike was bottoming out. What length ramp do you need and is there a specific brand that is made to put sport bikes in the back of a truck so they don't bottom out?

Well, it could have been knocked over. Or there might be a loose or corroded wire. Im just saying that when that isnt working, your bike won't prime the fuel pump and the FI light won't come on.

ramps, with sport bikes yuo need a LONG ramp or better yet curved or arched ones. Check out the ones CEO and a fuckload of numbers is selling.. that's a smoking deal.

errr.... none of mine ever did.

As for the water issue... my experience is that should only be a potential problem on a bike that has had the fairings removed, etc. Bikes are designed to withstand crazy amounts of rain riding. It's usually a hack mechanic that screws up the "waterproofing".

Loose ground or faulty tip-over sensor is more likely on a stock bike.
