    Traded my FZ75o for a CX500

I love it... Looked rough as hell when i got it but i painted it to match my racebike and have invested about 10 hrs of mechanical and electrical in it. its now almost ready to ride!!

Any one ever had one (or had this one? it was last registered in Maine in 1998)... I think it will be a fun cruiser.

Very cool. Maybe you know the "Naked Wing" site and forum, good info there:

Nope standard transmission, what makes it weird is the sideways mounted V-twin. Moto Guzzi style. feels very strange at a low idle. The bike wants to rock from side to side. Clutch is on the front of the motor, shaft drive and they made a turbo version.

Huh I thought that was the bike Honda made with the auto. Perhaps it was an option? I seem to recall my buddy having one with an auto tranny.

I think the "hondamatic" was available on some of the CBs. I had a cx 500 briefly and it was pretty cool. Almost bought a cx 650 turbo once, but decided it needed too much work.

Guzzi made an automatic called the convert, 1000cc and a high low range selector. i rode my fathers honda cx. i thought the shaft effect was a little too much. coming from another shaftie, a Guzzi, that the rear suspension of the honda if stiffened would be very nice. all twins that have an opposed engine configuration have the "twist" when you rev the engine. the shaft driven bikes seem to like a more careful gear selection when riding in and out of corners at a brisk pace. coming from a track background i'm sure your street riding is a little more sedate.

that, my friend is a very nice looking ride. this line from honda is one of the best Honda has ever done. common problems as i recall were water pump and stator.

    enjoy

    Re: Traded my FZ75o for a CX500

I had a 1983 CX650C as my first bike which I bought for $600 in 1998. I liked it. Had some issue with starting some time and would flood the carb, but figured out how to start it after that. Was reliable and powerful enough. Sold it when I went to med school and had no place to park it.

Well as usual, I've got a video about that.... A cat I know in Cleveland bought a cherry-assed CX650 (HondaGuzzi) cruiser for $500 I want to kill him LOL.

I've got the successor to that bike. They're great bang for your buck. Theres a website called ChopperCharles (or something like that) that is a really supportive cx/gl series forum. They have a good tutorial there on how to convert it to rear discs using the wheel from a cb900.
