    HELP! New bike choices!

Some of you know I was going to be buying my brothers old 600rr, UNTIL the dealer(who told me he was holding it for me) sold it. I guess he had to, oh well. Since it was sold from under my nose, he gave me some options. So I need some opinions from you guys:

He's giving me $3500 for my superhawk.
I can get an 01 Duc 748 w/5k on it and some aftermarket goodies in mint condition for $4500 or,

An 05 CBR 1000rr w/2k on it with about the same amout of aftermarket goodies, also mint for $7500.

I told myself if I was going to get rid of the VTR, I'd get something w/a bit more power(it was dynoed @ 119hp last year). BUT, is the 748 exclusive enough to warrant buying it, just because it is what it is?

PS. I don't ride on the street very much anymore, either.

    HELP! New bike choices!

    Umm... used VFR?

Wouldn't you want a little more sport touring type for the street.

    HELP! New bike choices!

Well I am a Ducati fan! So I vote the Ducati.

It isn't the most comfortable (especially for Lauren),

    But it is aDUCATI!!!!

    and it is cheaper!

Join the club. BCM is a great place to get work done and there are a bunch of people riding them now.

Plus it is the good body style.

    Is it Red or Yellow?

    HELP! New bike choices!

    $4500 for a 01 Duc 748 is pretty cheap.

    I have a 996 mono and I love it.
I would say the 748 is a bit underpowered, but the bike sits so well into the turns!
I have some engine modifications and I have the Ohlins suspension, so I don't know how the 748 would feel compared.

A Honda 1000RR is also a sweet bike, I love my race bike which is a 600RR.

.....Your looking at 2 opposite sides of the spectrum here.
A smaller engined V-Twin and a bigger engined in- line four.

The Duc has about 95 H.P in stock form.
The 1000RR has about 160 H.P in stock form, the 1000RR is also lighter.

Do you want raw power on a squid bike or do you want an elegant piece of Italian engineering??

    Fuck It! Buy them both!!!

The Honda will last longer with less maintainance.

    HELP! New bike choices!

Maintainance was something I was concerned with. Another thing was my girlfriend wanting to go for rides(it's a mono). BUT it's got some engine mods, a full arrow system and other things. But the RR has a full yosh system and a PCIII. I've always been a Honda guy, but I think it was because I couldn't afford an italian bike.

I have owned a few v-twin bikes now. I think it's time I tried something a bit squidly and ridiculous. I'll update after work.

    HELP! New bike choices!

I wouldn't buy anything from the same dealer that played that shit with you. I WOULD make it a point to stop by there on the new bike that you get elsewhere though, just to let 'em know they blew a sale...

    Lemme guess....Nault's?

    HELP! New bike choices!

I'm going to agree with Jay. They sold the bike to someone else because they got more money for it from them. I would find a new dealer.

    HELP! New bike choices!

Of those choics, I would go with the 748.

The 1000RR just doesn't seem to fill a need that I have... I don't want or need that size bike on or off the street.

Plus the 748 just sounds sooooo good... dry clutch rattle and twin exhaust.

I have a bi subframe on my 916 that I'm removing this winter and I'm going to sell or trade if you're interested.

    HELP! New bike choices!

If you aren't going to do much street riding, and therefore aren't going to use it much, the Duc is probably a better investment. It's a neat cult-ish kind of bike that will really hold its value.

CBR1000's are awesome and fun to ride, but are a dime a dozen.

its only squidly if you wear sandals and a half helmet

otherwise, its a fine piece of Japanese machinery. Representing the pinnacle of mechanical engineering with one of the best power/weight ratios.
