Re: Help me choose a bike....

Yo, Manny. Of the four you mentioned, I have owned and now own only one: the new Hyper 821 SP. Really like it. Was great at NJMP last fall and may find its way back on track, but, as you're considering, I bought it with street-duty a first priority. It is tall as shit, but that won't be a concern for you as it is for me. Street-riding was dead to me. It is back from the dead.

I guess what I meant to say earlier was some of the naked bikes look like they are sport bikes with no fairing and raised bars. Some just look more like they were designed that way in the first place ( like the old monsters) rather than an afterthought.

Honda CB1100. Would be a hoot of fun for what you are describing.

Re: Help me choose a bike....

I've had my speed triple R around Boston for a full season now. Does great for a commute, I have no problems doing ~400 miles of twisties either. Power is always there and even without a fairing it stays pretty comfortable well into triple digits. I'm 6'3" and the ergos are fine for me, considerably better than any supersport I've been on. Compared to others in the class, particularly the Touro, Streetfighter S, and 1290 Duke it does lack in the power department a bit - that said, it never leaves me wanting for more. Before I bought the trumpet I had considered a Z1k and CB1k as their raw performance numbers look pretty good but in the end they're just some damn ugly motorcycles. The euro bikes really have the naked market nailed in terms fit and finish, they're also the consistent top performers too.

    Lastly, it does sweet whoolies

Test ride the new Duke. It's WAAAYY more powerful than you might guess. It is so light and nimble it's almost comical. I think it looks great too!

Why don't you buy my SXV-550? Wayyyy more fun than a DRZ. Perfect bike for what you want.

Been seriously considering a monster.....just not sure I love it enough. I want to see the 1200 in person and then decide on it.

Re: Help me choose a bike....

Manny, I'm in the same position. I stopped into Razee last weekend and sat on a few bikes. I liked the riding position of the KTM SMT and the CB1000R much better than the Monster 1100 Evo. It had a more sportbike position. You sat more forward that upward. With a compressed cervical disk, it's not ideal as a street bike.

I'm waiting until I can test ride to make a decision. Plunking $11k+ is a serious investment and I don't want a bike that I won't want to ride, like the previous bike I had.

Nothing a set of up/back riders wouldn't fix.
Ducs always have a long reach to the bars, I even put a set of risers on my fugly.

I also really like the BMW R nineT but it's a lot of coin and the same motor as my adv bike which is all fine but would be nice to have something diff for the mill.
