    Help looking for new gloves

I found a decnt price on Joe Rocket Speedmaster Gloves. Anybody use them? The picture looks like they have vents in the fingers? Are these good summer gloves and good protective wise??

I really want Helds, but cant see paying 200+ for a pair of gloves..

I payed $60 for the Fieldshiers I have now 4 years ago and they held up very well and I have always been happy with them. They are now finally wearing out and getting small tears so It's time to upgrade..

What else is a good all around spring/summer/fall glove with perferations and will hold up in case of a let off?

    Help looking for new gloves

I have 2 pair of olympia gloves, one is a light summer glove, kevlar knuckes, fabric/leather with extra leather in critical areas. The other is a full leather gauntlet glove. I wear the 2nd pair all the time unless it's ungodly hot out, like it is right now.

IIRC I paid $60 for each pair, light ones from Cycles 128 the others from Newenough

can you really put a price/ value on your own personal safety? I pay whatever it takes to protect myself as well as possible. If you want Helds, save up an extra week and get them.

Silly Mike, Joe Rocket is for stuntas

    Help looking for new gloves

I picked these http://www.kneedraggers.com/details/33-HELD2220 up a few months ago and I love them. The fit is unreal and they stay nice and cool. I picked them up at South Shore Motorsports, they had a decent selection in the store so I was able to find a pair that fit.

    Help looking for new gloves

I have the Joe Rocket speedmasters. They're from a couple years ago I believe, the ones with the chromish knuckles. I got them at www.newenough.com for $69 I believe. They do have vents on the fingers, but I can't say I feel a rush of air coming through them to be honest. But at least for me, if it's 90 and humid, I can deal with hot hands. It's the hot head, body, and swamp ass that bothers me. So the lack of good venting isn't really an issue for me. The protection seems adequate, and they're extremely comfortable.

I got Olympia's with the kevlar kuckles and some venting and I love them. I think I paid around $80, but that was because I was shopping at someplace very expensive. I'd buy them again.

I was in MM the other day and saw some really nice gloves for $89. They don't show them on their site but it's not like it would take long to look around in there.

my vansons have been through 3 crashes and over a year of use and they are still perfect and a great fit. Some of the stitching I have seen come loose in places but nothing major, they're double stiched anyways.

my A-star SP-2s at least 3 crashes on them and they almost 3 years old. i think you can get them for under $100. for a summer glove i had some A-star gloves too they were like dirtbike gloves but with leather palms and knuckle protection. i wentr through them in about a year though, being in Phoenix you wear them whenever you ride and for me that was at 350 days a year i also did alot of go karting with them. IIRC around $50-60

    Help looking for new gloves

It's not like I've crashed in them, so maybe that would change my mind, but I must be the only person pretty disappointed in my Held gloves. Mike if you decide you can't justify the price, don't feel too bad, as I think you can get as good or better protection in some of the cheaper gloves.

    1) The rivets dig into your palm on a long day. Not something you'll notice in a <30 minute race up at NHIS if you are actually using them as racing gloves. (Which is apparently their purpose) The more weight you put on your palms the more you will notice this. I don't notice it at all when riding fast, but you notice it sitting in traffic or on the highway.

    2) They are wicked expensive, they don't have any better control feel then my old $100 Teknic gloves, though they maybe fit a little bit better.

    3) Again price/protection, the Teknic gloves had carbon fiber protectors for your knuckles + the outer joints in your fingers, the Helds only have them for your knuckles. Maybe it doesn't matter?

    4) Gauntlets are shaped weird, my jacket will work it's way out from under the gauntlets, I see this as a bad thing from a protection standpoint and it is annoying as hell in cold weather. (Never a problem with my old gloves since the gauntlet was a little larger and was even all the way around the glove.) Definitely only happens with some jackets though.

I am thinking the main difference is probably just where they are made and/or where they source the leather from. I think the Teknic stuff comes from the middle east, Helds are made in Germany. Is it worth 2x the price? If the Helds last 2x as long as the Teknics I'll be happy, otherwise I'll go back to the cheaper gloves.

(I wore through the palm on the Teknics, I'd imagine the same thing will happen on the Helds since they are both kangaroo leather)

Putting it as $20/finger is a good way to put it into perspective though... any finger surgery is going to cost 20x that at least. It's just a question of whether or not $10/finger works just as well.

You can get the Held "Steve" model for pretty small money... a little over $100 (should be in-stock at MM too). They don't have all the cool looking carbon bits, but to be honest, I'd much rather be wearing the Steve in a crash than 90% of what I see on the street. The kangaroo leather palm rules, too... tons of "feel"
    maybe worth a look.

Dainese Tenshyn . Nice comfy leather , carbon fiber knuckle protection , Palm protection . And they fit under your jacket sleeves which is what I like . You can unzip your sleeves for good airflow when it's hot . About 150$ I think , at moto market . I'm very happy with them .

but I must be the only person pretty disappointed in my Held gloves.
my held's lasted about 1 season...and considering our season is NOT 12 months...that was dissapointing...even though they were super comfy

now I have alpinestars and even the largest size is too small/tight to fit comfortably

    the search continues

    Help looking for new gloves

Don't mean to hi jack this thread but since we're talking about gloves.....

I've got a new (never used) pair of Alpinestars SP1 red/white/black size large for sale.

    $75 shipped.

I bought them thinking that the large would fit. I didn't have time to send them back so i went down to Vanson and picked up a new pair.
