    in MA north of Boston.

i wanna try this method from zx10r site.

    ------------------------------------------------------

Sag depends not only on the bike but also on the rider, and must be measured ...

I have a roadracing background (not on the 10R! don't know what to do with that much power ... !!!) so I have some insight into this.

Starting point for static sag on most sport bikes for a racetrack setup should be about 25mm rear and 32mm front. For a street setup, it's not so critical, it may work better with a few millimeters more at both ends. The objective is to get it so that it uses the travel it has without too much "bottoming-out" or "topping-out".

To measure this: Have the bike with a half-tank of fuel, get on all your normal riding gear, and get a tape measure and an assistant. With the bike on its sidestand, lift up towards the front and measure the exposed part of the fork tube below the seal (the area where the travel is visible). Record this measurement. Then lift up towards the rear of the bike and measure between the axle straight up to something fixed (can be useful to put a piece of masking tape on as a reference). Record this as well.

Now, get on the bike and get into normal riding position. Ideally your feet should be on the pegs, but then you need 3 people ... you, someone to hold the bike upright while not applying any force up or down, and someone to measure. "Good enough" - use tiptoes to balance on the ground, applying as little force as possible. Bounce up and down to settle the suspension. Then make the same measurements as previously described. The difference between the unloaded measurement and the normal-loaded measurement is the static sag.

If there is too much sag in the front, you need to turn the preload adjuster IN (less lines projecting) by the same amount that the sag is too much. Then check it again. Reverse if there is not enough sag in the front. If you have too much sag in the rear, you need to adjust preload tighter, but how much it needs adjusting isn't so simple to estimate ... just keep checking as you adjust.
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

anyone else? will need 3 people.
