Help me choose?

I am confusing myself with all these choices! I want a sport touring sort of but not completely, yet I want something origonal. I also love having my V-Twin and think I may get the best of all three if I just get a Aprillia Touno or Falco... What to do? I will most likely rule out the Touno due to it's cost... I believe they are up around $17K?

So I have this list that keeps on growing. Do I go sport tourer, or semi nakid sport bike thats just more comfy and capable of holding saddle bags? Or just bin all these idea's and get an 05 R1!

I've done a couple of 500+ mile days with minimal stops and that is about the limit my ass can take. If you want longer distance with ample sport, i'd be looking at the FJR, or ZZR.

If you think the Falco at 17K is expensive, you might have to reconsider the BMW's.

I would love to try out the K1200R though. I'm a bit concerned about its long wheelbase but I wont make any judgements until I try it out. I just have a feeling it will be too smooth for my likes. I like the raw (but very controllable) rip your arms out power that the 12R has. For its size, it handles remarkably well and can surprise some of the liter bikes in the turns if the other riders slips up a bit.

The starting price of the K1200R is $14,250 which includes shipping & Assembly charges. I will probably want all the bells and whistles. BMW Motorrad Navigation System W/Comp controled suspension, Center stand, Pannier holder & hard bags, Windshield, Abs possibly if I can get front brake only, from what I understand the front and rear are in one circuit by using the front brake lever? I dont like that... So added up I am probably at 16/17? ( All this is a possibility if I get Ins $ from my little work incedent...) I want a bike anyways, but if I make out, I will be treating myself well!

i don't think you'll like the sport tourer in place of the rc. although it would be a nice addition.

you can get a r1, and a supermoto for the price of some of those bikes

i'd wait for the 06 r1

or wait until the 06's come out and buy my 04

Tuono! Skip the falco... too much of sport riding position for a sport tourer.

tuono's are $12k for the non "race" ones.

i almost got one last year, but the z1k was the same kind of ride( minus the twin) for almost half the price.
i still want a tuono.

and a motard.

... and.... well the list goes on and on...


that bimmer you got pictured up top has got my interest... i would have to ride it... see if its got that weird feeling thing the shaft drive flat head beemers do... makes me uneasy when getting on the gas hard.

yous gots some AMAZING choices there. If i could have any of the pic I would go for the K1200R or the Tuono. That's $$ aside of course. I don't know the priced of all of those but I would think that you really need to narrow if down a bit for us to help you out. I wouldn't go for the 12R though because I don't think of that as a Sport Tourer but more or a sport bike. The others are really STs. That K1200S is killer too though. I would personally pick either of the BMWs or the Aprilia if you can swing the $$. Take a couple out for a spin and narrow it down a bit more.

Get the bimmer! That thing just looks bad ass to me, and I'm generally not a fan of BMW styling. And if not, the sprint st is HOT! I love that triple sound.

Ah Brent just the Man I was looking to get feedback from seeing you have first hand experience with the Aprilia! (falco is out!) Your the second person with first hand experience to say the Touno is better! Looks better IMHO also!

Ok, So the list Narrows. Still have to narrow it down. The K1200R and the Touno are strong leaders!
I cant find the K1200R at any dealerships (too popular/not enough released to the US.)
I will heading to International Motorsports in Webster to look at Aprilia. Hopefully they have a Touno if not I will just pick at them for info...

My choices in order till more investigating is done.

Wait till September to see what Honda does with the VFR
Good Possibility of a larger displacement VFR, to compete with

Check out apriliaforums.com before you buy a touno as the resale value of aprilia's are terrible and you can pick up a low mileage example for short money.
While the beemer is sweet you would get bored with it fairly quickly as it is an incredible mileage muncher but screams bland.
The sprint ST is an incredible piece of kit but then again I'm biased towards the triple motor and if your thinking tuono you gotta have a look at the new speed triple , dead sexy piece of kit.

Mike, you got it all wrong. HERE is your list:

Lightly used Z-Rex + Turbo Kit: ~$7000 total and that gives you only about 260 horse on tap

The ZZR is a sweet bike as well.

Get a supermoto and an R6!

Jim ya Knob... Do those look like sport touring bikes to you??? Granted they are sweet ass bikes, but just the slightest bit better riding position than my RC. Plus cost more than the RC.
