    YSR/Minibike racing?

A few weeks ago I got the awesome opportunity to take a buddy's Yamaha YSR 50 on a track in sacramento... damn, i was hooked right away!

Now i really really wanna get into YSR racing... i'm shopping around for a used YSR, or possibly a Honda NSR, for a race bike. I'm expecting to probably spend ~$2k on a stocker with a reasonably well-maintained engine.

Unfortunately, i haven't been able to find any info on YSR racing in the NE area... was wondering if anyone out here knows of any organizations that open up tracks for minibikes, or something along those lines.

not sure if this should go in pit area, or for sale/wanted, or whatever... moderators, please move as you see fit

    Elianeo,

Not to pick on you, but you look like the perfect size for that 50 ! You look like you rode it extrememly well also ! Nice lean, way to get off the bike in the corners!

Good luck finding a cheap used YSR50, the ones out there are selling for about 4K, if your really interested save up and look into the New Honda NRS50's they are making and retailing them again. Takl to a local Honda Dealer

    YSR/Minibike racing?

I know some people that used to race them last year in BOw. There's a track, sugar hill, I think it's called. They probably still do it. A good friend is also a salesman at Nault's honda if you do decide to go with the new 50. I've considered it.

It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?

    YSR/Minibike racing?

THANKS half Squid, yeah the used YSR's i've looked at so far have all been kinda outta my budget, i guess the engines have to be rebuilt every couple of races on those 2-strokes so it's kinda like buying a new bike even though it's a 15-20 year old bike

it seems like it would end up costing about the same just to get a NSR, but i don't really wanna get a brand new bike cuz i know i'll just crash it plus i think there are fewer aftermarket parts available for the nsr right now...

I went out and interviewed and they got a hiring freeze two days after I got back from laguna. They still want me out there but I'm starting classes now so if I do go, they'll have to wait.

I don't know how organized it was. But they were racing the 50's before.

    YSR/Minibike racing?

Sugar Hill used to have YSR/NSR racing but i'm not sure if they still do or not? I do know they have Pocketbike racing once a month there. Also there is a large group of pocketbike racers at Pinnacle raceway . You'd probably go faster and have a bit more fun and at less of a cost with pocketbike racing IMO A real Italian made pocketbike is the shizzle, not like those $300 junkers.

Check out cycleforums.com, click on pocketbikes, then racing organizations, then TSMMR (TriState MiniMoto Racing). If you're not interested in Pocketbikes, then they may be able to point tou in the rite direction for the YSR/NSR racing
