Maybe you over-maintain your bike.
I rode my SV this season on its 5th YEAR since its last refresh and it had only lost 4hp since that time. With the addition of the flatslides, it was actually running 4hp higher than when it was last refreshed. And it gets a ton of track time too. This season saw 6 rounds of racing (3 races per round) and 14 track days. Last year was just as busy as well (5.5 rounds of racing and 15 track days).
As for brakes, I only clean the caliper pistons when I change pads.
There is a point where doing too much is more hurtful. Sometimes, it's better to let your bike settle.

Motor has only been opened for cams. And that was in 2005.
Last time it was on a real dyno it made 73 (iirc). That was in approximately 2003.
When I start my KTM in the morning, rules are broken. Its inevitable...

Close your eyes, look deep in your soul, step outside yourself and let your mind go.
The better my lap times got, I kept switching from +1 rear to stock rear sprockets. I was assuming that my gearing was maxed out.
However, I kept getting consistent 150-151 MPH on the stock and 154-155 MPH on the +1 sprocket.
Does this mean I was just out of horsepower?
Yup.
Or too fat.
Probably too fat.
