    Hitch mount Bike Carriers... OPINIONS?

    Hey all...
I know the perpendicular hitch carriers are cheesy, and only good for dirtbike type bikes... The Twisting is terrible for them... i've seen plenty of them snap (pictures online)

HOWEVER... i just saw this on Ebay... and i had a moment of awe... what a genious idea!!!!!!!!!!

My only concern would be this...
Picture going over a speed bump... the rear tire (of the bike) lifts and falls. That changes the angle of the forks to the carrier... thus maybe loosening or overtightening the straps??? or

Plus... this is my other concern...
Sold my truck, so now i have to deal w/ my vette...

I have a hitch carrier that is pretty beefy.... I've used it to carry 600cc sportbikes without a problem. Only issue is that if the rear shocks happen to be blown out on the vehicle you're using(was the case the last time I used it) it take a whole lot of weight off the front end, resulting in a somewhat dangerous ride

There's just so many potentially bad things with that.

    - Normal practice is that you should never tie down via the handlebars
    - You're putting a lot of extra miles on the transmission and rear tire.
    - What happens when the forks compress due to a large bump and the tie downs lose their connection point and fall off?
    - what happens when you go over a grated bridge/grooved pavement and the rear tires jumps a few inches and washes out from under it?

Hell, just the way the bike was leaned over as she was exiting the driveway would cause me to have a heart attack.

Not real sure I'd be trusting any of my bikes to something like that.

it seems to place alot of stress in the head/stem area. looks like there is a lot of twisting going on. cant imagine it being good for the bearings and such.
