    Hmm... interesting.... Scorpion EXO 1000

It seems like some good ideas on there part... but i can't wait till some testing is done to see how good that thing will really be. I think they might have something with the pumped up cheek pads. I wonder how long they would last before something leaks. Looks like it could be a good helmet. Time will tell. Good find... i'm always in that site and i missed that.

Pretty innovative...but I wonder if they'll really be functional in that the pump will not lose pressure after time or the sun visor may be harmful in the crash. If the cost of the helmet was around the $250 mark, I would probably purchase it to test it out. I have heard rave reviews for the exo 700 so this should be just as good or better. I really like the idea of a sun visor. I could then wear it to work and not worry about leaving work early because of the dark.

If this is the case, it's in the middle of HJC's lineup.

I guess I'll keep saving for the Arai.

If your looking for something to cut the glare Dennis Kurk just sent me there new catalog. In there they have a Speedtint anti-glare sun viser insert. Its a strip of tinted film thats about 1 1/2 wide and the length of the shield and attaches to the top part of the shield. When the sun gets to much... tilt your helmet down alittle to see through the tint and cut the glare. Lift your head up and your clear again. It looks like it might work... and for $10.99 its worth a shot... i'm gonna get one to try out.

Or, just buy some $5.99 window tint at Wally World and make your own. I did this last season, by be warned, if your shield has an anti-fog coating and you peel the film off (the static kind, not the kind that has adhesive) it still peels the anti-fog stuff off.

My HJC is an XL. It's actually just a little big (hmmm, any oxymoron). The padding compressed a little more than I would have liked it to. The large AC-12 was a little tight when I tried one on in Brockton.

I had an older Arai Signet, which was a large and fit me pretty well.

pretty cool helmet; the tinted visor is awesome. I'm going to be in shop for a new helmet myself and with the new job I might be able to get myself something really nice.

Ya it looked something like that but was pre curved to match the curve of the sheild. The stuff in Dennis Kirk looked a lot nicer than that peice of plastic slapped on that shield. But its based on the same idea. The ones at Dennis Kirk were put out by Icon for $8.99 and Fog City for $10.99.

why don't they make shields like they make certain kinds of eyeglasses. The ones that turn tinted in sunlight and clear in the shade

I had an EXO700 and loved it, and it can't be beat for the money. And my father's Schuberth has the slide-down sun visor in it and it's a great feature to have. The pump thing I'm not too sure about but I would definately give it a shot based on my experience with the 700. Scorpion also came out with a visor that adjusts to the intensity of the sunlight(kinda like those glasses that change into sunglasses when you walk outside).

I think it's because of the shape of the visor vs the shape of eyeglasses.

What I'd like to see is a progressive shield that starts dark at the top and goes to a clear halfway down. Almost like car windshields have that strip at the top.

Scorpion DOES make a shield like that. From what I've heard, it works pretty well and is worth the $60

The pump idea is definitely neat but it doesn't surprise me that it didn't pass SNELL, heck I would have been surprised if it failed DOT as well, except you can apparently just lie and say it did pass DOT and you'll be OK... Also considering the # of decent helmets that have customizable cheek pads it's probably not an overall improvement.

The sun visor is cool... that idea needs to catch on and get picked up by more helmet vendors. Guessing it just adds weight and makes it more difficult to get good protection in the forehead area. (Maybe that's why it failed SNELL actually, not the pump up cheek pads. ) I would like to see one that had a swing down visor that covered the entire viewport, but I'm guessing again that would compromise protection even more, on top of raising the center of gravity of the helmet.

we got Scorpion in at the start of last summer. dollar for dollar and feature for feature they are a smoking helmet. the build quality is way above anything in it's price range or higher. we haven't got the new "pumper" version in yet. one of our guys saw it at the Indy trade show and said it was a very nice helmet. if the system works as advertised it's going to solve alot of fitment problems.

Will the helmet meet DOT and snell 2005? Is it going to be racing approved?

It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?
