Not sure if I missed this, but Yamaha finally did something with that FUGLY rear end of the R1

If that was around when I got the CBR1kRR, I would have thought twice.

Seem it somewhere else too, cant remember where. I think it looks like a R6 on steroids....i like it, much better than the uglyness it was before

As for the old, I fully agree the tail looks big and ugly...but only with stock pipes. Put some nice fitting (not many actually look nice IMHO) slip-ons on the bike, and they look pretty good.

I agree, you have to ditch the stock pipes not only for looks but they weigh sooo much. I have an 11' R1 with a graves full ti/carbon system and it looks gorgeous and sounds incredible!!

Although the article says they used "chopped up R6 bodywork" so the final appearance will most likely change, I am liking what I see. The R1 is definitely due for a complete update. The tough decision will have to be do I put my current one back on the road or not... LOL I was able to ride it on the track for the first time last year and WOWWW I fell in love with it again

Yes, of course. I bought an 09 R1 (sorta ugly) and bought a 11 R6 (beautiful) and now an Aprilia (sorta ugly), so if the cycle continues, I'll have the next generation R1 which will be beautiful

I don't get why you people are saying the current one is ugly. I think its a good looking bike and don't most mag reviews say that too? the photochop in that article sucks. the side scoops are terrible, this isn't 1995.

The current one has its good angles and some angles that leaves little to desire... It's kind of like meeting a girl in a dark club/bar with your beer goggles on and then seeing her in the morning.. different optical effect.
