Honda CB-1, Anyone Have/Had One?

I test rode one when they first hit the showrooms (1987...?)
Lately some of my friends have bought 'Ninjettes' as second bikes to toss madly about the back roads.

I've been thinking I might like to add a CB-1 to my stable.
Should be capable of dusting off EX250's handily
PLUS I could actually "use all that power."

Would love to find a pristine example like this:


My brother has an NT650 he's gradually refurbishing, would make a good partner in crime to the 400.
Of course financial limitations suggest my desire may remain a pipe dream for the time being at least...Damn!

I've had my CB-1 (previously desmotull's, and before that scottieducati's) since August and I love it. So much so that I just bought a dedicated track bike to lessen my chances of dropping it since some parts are hard to find. I'm writing this on a phone but I'll elaborate later when I get to a computer ... nice taste though!

Sorry, dropped the ball there - not that I have anything earth-shattering to say, but yeah the CB-1 has been a peach. Nimble for "tossing madly about," zippy in the 5k-8k range, and also very forgiving. I've just gotten back into riding after several years off, so sometimes I fudge shifts, brake at the wrong time in a turn, am not smooth with the throttle, don't have my body weight where it should be, etc. and it pulls me out just fine.

The one thing is, I'm 5'0" and it's about perfect for me. scottieducati is 6'0" and he says he feels like "an elephant humping a football" on it...

Do they still make that bike in Japan? I know the CB400F from the mid 70's evolved continuously into the CB-1 in Japan, but it was only available here from 75-77 and then as the CB-1 around 88-90.

I remember the CB-1 and the Hawk came out around the same time and I really liked both of them.

Looks like the era of mini-superbikes is gone in Japan, but they do still have some cool stuff... although this was last updated in '07....

Ha, all I know is if the VFR is eligible (it's an '88 after all), then I'm riding it with Degsy. Oxx, you'll break a bike that small so you're out... sorry buddy.

I had both a Hawk GT and a CB-1 - loved them both! The CB-1 was a ton of fun and make me fall in love with in-line 4's. I eventually replaced it with an F4 and then a 929. We ended up giving the CB-1 to my brother-in-law in S.C. and as far as I know, it's still running strong.
