Anyone know what oil Honda specifies for this? Can I run Rotella T6?

Pretty sure it says Rotella right on the frame sticker...

    That's $1,800 / hp.

At $306 / hp, the Honda Grom is looking like a much better bargain. Prolly more fun too.

Unless you get off on the thought of riding the closest to an (underpowered) moto GP bike you can street.

I myself am a bit of a hooligan, and would get off on flying by on a Grom and hitting the kill switch of the guy on an underpowered, street legal moto GP bike.

There is always the Desmosedicci, less than half the cost, twice the HP, and lighter too IIRC...

Pretty sad. Their new special bike makes less power then my r6 did.

This has GOT to be electronically limited... I'm betting there will be a relatively easy and [sarcasm] SUUUUUPER inexpensive [/sarcasm] fix.

I'd still love to see one in person some day & sure as hell hope it'll have more HP than a built SV.

The weight definitely surprises me, though...

Guess what Peter Kates says about honda still rings true... "It might be heavy but at least it's slow".

I heard those exact words out of his mouth back as the RC51 came out as the "pure sportbike" version of the Superpigeon. No one could ever figure out why Honda put out those bikes for street use with barely over a 100 mile range.

As for "homologation specials", Mark (R7) could tell you all about how his 1 of 500 Yamaha R7 came to him with just one of the two fuel injectors lit and he had to buy a factory "kit" to get it up to full performance. I think it was mostly a matter of clipping a wire.

I bought a "hop-up" kit from the UK for my R7, cost me just shy of $300.00 to my door. Before the kit was installed, the bike dynoed exactly what it was supposed to, 104 at the wheel. There were three items in the kit, something to do with the airbox (forgot exactly what that part was, but it was small and seemed minor), Electric connections/jumpers to switch the ECU from street mode, to race mode (race mode is what activates the secondary injectors) and new throttle cables. The OE cables had built in stops that would only allow 5/8 throttle use. Those simple mods and adding a full Akra system jumped the rear wheel HP to 137, which was pretty impressive at the time.

My guess is if honda imports this bike to the US, it will do exactly what the R7 did back in the day....sit in warehouses for a year before "trying" to sell them at or below actual cost.
IMHO the bike is typical honda...kinda plain and not exciting looking

And I just LOVED the sound that came out of that bike Mark! Nothing on this earth ever sounded so cool. I really wish you could have kept it forever, quite a collectible!

if you have the money to buy this bike you have the money to get the race kit overseas to unleash the full 212hp.

Sounds like the kit will require a VIN to purchase, and if it's a US destined VIN, no sale.
