New to me Honda Super Cub!

Priscilla and I picked up a Honda Super Cub. It's a 1962 model. Pretty awesome if I do say so my self. It's a three speed manual shift 49cc scooter. It's got a centrifical clutch. We've registered it as a moped.

I have to say it's the cutest thing I've ever seen, and Priscilla on it, oh well... I'd better be nice to her becuse she'll get other offers. This is really the perfect device for her to get a taste of two wheels and a motor. I still think the Cub is the best thing the motorcycle industry ever made. It's just the device for making folks comfortable on two wheels. Would Prisc ever get a motorcycle? No. But maybe after a Cub.

It's the schnizzle around town to be sure! The guy I bought it from told me to put Stabil in the gas as it barely uses any. The 1 gallon tank being good for over 150 miles. That's a lot of 1 mile round trips into Northampton center. I am ever so pleased with it. But more to the point Priscilla is beside herself with it. She woke up this A.M. and went to the window to see it. She's that excited.

We paid $450 to it. The gent had the origional recipt, $125 new in 1966. This works out to about a $1000. I wish something. like this were on the market now, of Cub quality. You can see it in it. It'll last and last. Especially with the oil situation. It'd make tomorrow's riders.

We're having a blast with it. I've found it super useful. I am totally diggin the sucession of scotters that's come through my place.

It's easy to see why when you look at one. The design is simple to manufacture but rugged. The engine is solid and pulls pretty good to redline. The centrifugal clutch and foot shift are easy to operate.

1st is a real stump puller. It's easy to see how they haul those massive loads with these things.

I wish Honda would import them again. I would get on in a second for what they sell them overseas for.

Hey that was my first motorcycle on the farm growing up. Used to ride the supercub through the fields at 10mph! The three speed was good for at least 25mph downhill.
