    For Karen and Doc

In my post regarding the passing of a good friend and her husband Doc who survives her I mentioned posting pix. These are some pix with Doc and Karen in them at a meet and greet we all had in Gettysburg 2006. Our host put on a great spread, etc. including live bands. Evelyns Ashes and Doc performed. Granted, not all the pix are of Doc and Karen, but I know they would like you to see some of the people we met and the good time we had the last time we were together. There are a ton of other pix, but these will do.

Nice pix. Seem like some real good folks. A shame to see this happen. On a positive note, I used to play drums in rock bands in the 80's and that there is one mad set!!

That set belonged to Danny, our host. He sold it soon after...had some back probs and other shit that kept him from being able to play the way he wanted to. But you're right...awesome kit!

    Re: For Karen and Doc

I hate to say this, but life for Doc is really gunna suck now. He was a man who obviously was in the business of "saving lives" in the Military, and now he just lost the most precious thing.
I hope he doesn't beat himself up too bad over this, and who the fuck wouldn't? Please dont think I mean this in a selfish way, but guilt can get the best of a person and there is no doubt he has a long road ahead....

From personal experience it is hell. I still have issues from an incident 16 years ago.

Counseling helps but time is needed as well. Just make sure that you let him know that he is needed around here. Despair and depression can lead to some sad thoughts.

I feel the same, and you're not being selfish, but rather, concerned. I know damned well he is going to beat himself up, especially having met Karen just several years ago, to find peace of mind with someone you love and now this. He does have along road ahead, especially for someone who already had his fill of death and horror serving in Vietnam and literally having young men die in his arms. In a way he is prepared and is also most vulnerable. The best medicine for him right now is to be with his friends and family, near and far.

For whatever pain you are feeling, Doc, I wish you the best and relief in some measure from your own experience with this sort of thing, whatever it may be. And counseling for anyone so bereaved is a good thing, not a sign of weakness. Thank you for your thoughts.

    Re: For Karen and Doc

And this is a classic example of how quick a life can end, or your whole world turn upside done from a split second mistake. Life is way too short for some people. When you think you have an assache about something, think about this assache, and yours are prolly nothing compared!

Please let Doc know that we are here for him, and he is not alone. Support for him when he gets back on his feet is justly needed badly.
Serving, surviving, and helping his wounded brothers in Nam is a fucken HERO in my book!

Already have on the forum we belong to and will continue to do so...he needs some room for a few days before I get to talk with him on the phone, so like I said earlier, I will pass along all that has been expressed here. You folks are the best.
