Re: The HOT SETUP for a general track toy

I was in a not-dissimilar situation. I ended for with a race ready 2009 R1 for like $4500 or something near there. It’s super fun on track, even if I have to take a few sessions to get right coming from motard world. I would consider selling it too, so I can buy a 600 and do the dash.

I think you’re felling a on the motor of the 790 is a bit off. They are running 110whp with a pipe and shit, well into 600 territory and out of SV land.

Yup. 790 ia equal to a lot of 600s, while handling like an SV. tough to argue with that. It's only money.

And Harlan is turning .15’s on his 790. Even think he had a couple .14’s

    That's cool.

I was going to ask wtf is wrong with being passed on the straights?! Now it makes sense.

And if I was using someone else's money, then sure!

790 is way out of the price range.

I'd like to stay a bit more modern than those. 2009 and up.

Because they are newer and should require less age related maintenance. I have plenty of old bikes already.

Race ready. Ohlins cartridges, Penske rear, bazzaz TC/QS, fancy exhaust, GMD confirmed straight. It’s got a few minor things wrong, a seat bolt won’t loosen and a spool broke in the swing arm and it could use a battery.

Updated search to narrow things down a bit.

    Looking for a 2011-2015 ZX-10R, ideally.

    Negative.

It won't be a looker, that's for sure. But my Kurlon-style spreadsheet said it's my #1 pick so far.

May go look at one up at Argo that went down lightly.

They have always rustled my jimmies. I've been Team Green since I got my first bike: 1980 KX80.

That and the best RWHP to weight ratio of any of the big 4's in generations I could afford. 2011+ gets the traction control system as well. Most shootouts of that era place the ZX-10R right behind the S1000RR, but ahead of the jicksah, Arrr1 and tupperwareface CBR1000RR. And the BMW is just way too spendy for a cheap brokedick like me.

Re: The HOT SETUP for a general track toy

Well, the shiny doubloons I had squirreled away will now likely need to be used for a wood stove since Harman blows.

So this hunt is over for now. It will resume again. Perhaps this time next year. At some point, I WILL be on a modern bike. Just has to happen. Somehow. Until then, let the brokedickery continue.

Oh well. New ride is still in the right weight range. Went down 9 lbs from the SV, and jumped 56 horses (stock, which it isn't).

Hah, when he posted it I was going to suggest it to you for a cheap liter track bike fix, but you seemed intent on spending a lot of money.

    Congrats on the new toy.
