    HUD Helmet

My girlfriend just sent me this link, I knew the technology was there but this looks like a well done implementation of HUD technology on a motorcycle helmet. I especially like the GPS capability. What do you guys think, does it improve safety or just another distraction?

I pre-ordered one for the street but with an estimated delivery of May 2015, it won't be till next season before I can share my hand's on opinion. I love that they have an SDK for their platform as well. Their press material and interviews with some of the beta testers are pretty compelling. A few months ago I played with an app or two that I developed for my google glasses to get a sense for the distraction level riding on a bike and I think that Skully has a much better real-estate area for their display.

I understand but playing with cutting edge tech generally comes at a cost.
Speaking of the Skully, they are planning to ship with a custom e-tint visor system, I had never seen this product before and it's pretty interesting too.

    Re: HUD Helmet

I read about this product like 6 months ago. It's definitely a innovative and intriguing helmet. $1400 is not that high....The AGV Pista is the same price.

My two biggest gripes are the silly company name and the product fulfillment to the consumer. What kind of stupid name is Skully? Where was the board on the name decision? And spring of 2015? Are you serious!! Were they VC funded? Probably the CEO is gone by now....How are the pre-order sales doing? Spring of 2015 to fulfill distribution? Good luck Skully................... Having said that I'll still buy a NESR members used Skully for $700 next year! Cool tech. Lmao

    Re: HUD Helmet

Cool technology but it doesn't really solve any problems I have on a motorcycle. I will probably follow the product but not something that will ever really be on my radar. The Sena getting in-helmet phone calls is quite enough. It does also seem like they are shooting to design a product that works first as technology and second as a helmet. I want helmet safety first and technology second.

    Re: HUD Helmet

I don't like the idea at all for bike. That whole 10 dollars of attention thing. Some people could handle this, but most would be a rolling disaster with it on. Hell, the reason new riders aren't good is largely lack of situational awareness. Now you want to add in HUD features to the mix? No.

Unless the HUD worked like the terminator and indicated danger and threats to you lol.

    Re: HUD Helmet

Even just watching the video the rearview was distracting as hell. GPS and telemetry data as a HUD is fine, that's stuff that the typical rider will be frequently looking at anyway and this would keep their eyes at least in the general direction of the road rather than looking down at gauges. Not worth 1400 for that though.
