Re: How many hours a day do you think about your bike(s)?

No, no, maybe I explained it incorrectly. If you had asked me 1 year ago if I had wanted to ride, I would have said no. It's not something that occurred to me as a necessity, and I never thought about it. The catalyst in this situation was my boyfriend who decided to buy me a bike after teaching me a few times on his bike. I grew into loving riding, and trust me, I feel more confident and safe on a bike than I do in car now.

What was I was trying to say is I'm a hypocrit when it comes to thinking about it. If it's in my hands, I don't think or worry about it. But if someone else is using it, I get a little upset. Does that make sense?

The funny part about this is I don't even ride much. I probably have less than 1000 miles on the street this year, most of it is just test rides in the last couple of months haha.

    I just like bikes.

The "forgets peoples names but remembers what they drive" thing is me all day. My wife goes bananas when I do that.

Jason, I have referred to you as "that guy with the black GL1800" more than once. Just wanted to get that out there.

I saw this commercial last night and immediately thought of this thread (but couldn't find it on YouTube).

The bike / car is so much more visceral than a name.

"That guy with the black GL1800" is probably how more people here know me than anything. Dude... you brought the wrong bike for this ride .

I do the same thing at work. Terrible with names, but "OH YEA... we chatted about that F800GS we have, you wanted to trade your Tiger 800 in, now I remember you"

Probably a lot more than I should. I ride almost every day, rain or shine. Wednesdays the dog goes with me, so the truck. There is always a project in the garage. I have multiple favorite loops depending on time or the amount of two wheeled therapy I need.

I'm not sure you can call it separation anxiety more so than just DON'T FUCKING TOUCH MY BIKE WITHOUT ASKING FIRST, you know? We just recently moved up to NH (finally), and as we were packing things up on the trailer, my boyfriend's brother decided to permit himself to just hop onto my bike. You would not believe how livid I was. You don't just come up to some person's bike and hop on, then try and roll it a little bit to see how it feels. I wanted to smack that little shit. He did it TWICE! Regardless of who was there, I should've given him a tongue lashing. Never again.

Re: How many hours a day do you think about your bike(s)?

If I'm awake, I'm thinking of riding. When I'm asleep, I'm dreaming of riding. When my girlfriend sees that far away look in my eyes and asks, "what are you thinking about?", I'm day dreaming of racing. When she asks what I want to do today, I'm thinking of riding. But of course, I sometimes have to do what she would like. When I dream of what I would do with the money if I won the lottery, I would buy a big, isolated piece of land and build a roadcourse with a flat track in the infield and a motocross track surrounding the flat track.

By the way, I'm the guy riding the black and orange R6 on the track. OR, the red and white Husky 450 or white and green Kawi 450 or Yellow Suzuki 490 on the MX tracks or trail system. Sadly, the Ducati 748 sits idle as I cannot enjoy street riding any longer, thanks to my track and dirt addiction. This beautiful bike needs a good home. Won't someone please help?

way worse, except you start thinking about the riding more than the bike....and then if you don't mind lying awake all night thinking about it you could try the "r" word.

Re: How many hours a day do you think about your bike(s)?

My dirt bikes - yes, all the time. My street bikes - not so much. Riding dirt is like riding a track day - every day. As I have aged, I don't think about my bikes until I see them, or unless I am working on them on a longer term project - like my newest 1974 Can-Am... I will be thinking about that one until I get close to done. My goal is a 90+% rider - not a Day 1 restoration. It helps that the bike is at 60-70% as is. Everything I have touched so far has 40 year old mud, grease, and grime caked on it. Today, I was surprised to see "Bombardier" and "Made in Canada" stamped on the rear sprocket. It is worn, but I cannot throw it out.
