I have no idea what the geometry of the Vitpilien would be like on track. And neither doe anyone else. That is your biggest risk factor.

there are leftover 690 dukes out there for basically songs too. I haven't shopped them too hard, but I might own one someday, or something really similar.

I mean he isn't racing so it might not matter? I don't think it could be that bad haha.

Pretty much what Smutty said. Track days, not taking it racing. There's a lot that can be done around the stock geometry anyhow.

The non-adjustable suspension on the Duke puts puts a nix on it unless it's priced at $6,500. I also don't think the Duke comes with the up/down quickshifter, I've looked around at the specs and reviews and haven't seen mention of it.

Good points on the Duke. It's why I didn't buy one after I sold the SMC

I’d have poopoo’d a quick shifter till the cows came home up until late June of this year.
What a handy gadget in almost every scenario.
Non adjustable squishy bits is a non starter for sure. Unless somebody is making drop in kits that end up costing less than the other stuff all together, I can see skipping the duke altogether.

Exactly. Basically I'm looking at $500 to respring the Vitapilen or $2000-2500 to do a replace the non-adjustable shock and fork cartridge kit. I've never had the pleasure of ripping a bike around track equipped with up/down QS with auto blipper, and I really want it. The biggest thing with the Vitapilen is the sum of the parts coupled with the new pricing structure. This bike was priced at $12k when it was released in 2018, it hasn't changed and they knocked $2500 off of it.

Right now Loudbeard is scouring the internet on all things Vitpilen. Wife thinks he's watching porn but it's just Ryan on FortNine YouTube talking sexy about the Vitpilen.

Damn, at that price I'd consider getting rid of my RC for one. I really like the looks of them, but honestly don't think I want any more power than what I got - for the street, that is.

However, the RC is god awful 2-up, and we use it to get around the city so much. I thought we could deal with it, but eh, it really sucks.

Check out the Vitpilen 401 then, $3,350 less than the 701, around here they are on clearance for $4,650.....although not sure how 2-up friendly that tiny ass seat on the Vit is...

Being such a low purchase price new would have me second guessing, not sure I could buy one. The last bike I bought with huge discounts was the sxv550...cool bike, but a problem child

In this case I think it's just styling that has pushed down the value. It's definitely edgy euro minimal metro. A lot to swallow for the american buyer who doesn't do minimal well.

The 701's use the KTM LC4, pretty tried and true platform. The 390 equipped machines I hear have been a bit problematic, but I can't attach any specifics to that claim. Paul is pretty spot on though. The bike was priced too high ($12k) when it was released (2018) for the American market to buy bigly.
