Making things short since I don't care to get into to deep of details, but last friday on the way to work, I lowsided on some oil in Brighton on the street (I admit I was at some fault and didn't dodge the spot) and hit the ground really hard. Hard enough to break 6 ribs and a collar bone. At 20-30 mph, I didn't think this was even possible, but the bike's acceleration and it coming down on me, I guess, did enough.
Anyways, I was wearing full gear (sidi vertigo corsas, icon persuit jacket, icon back protector, held full gauntlet gloves, and a icon airframe helmet) and the boots kept my ankles from buckling underneath the bike, and the helmet kept me conscious and didn't even let me get a headache. My head hit before my shoulder/side did, and seeing that my ribs are all kinds of broken and I have a bruise the size of texas on my side, I think it did pretty damned good.
Anyways, ride safe everyone. I've got to chill for the rest of the year and heal. Then figure out if I should track-or-ize my bike or but some ebay fairings on it and sell it. It faired great due to the sliders on it, but the front fairing top broke off when I slid into a car infront of me. Doh. Go figure, eh?
Hooray for gear saving my ass. Broken ribs suck balls, if you haven't had any yet.
