    Re: Rejected for inspection sticker

I was failed on my 100% stock bike due to reflectors.

Went to a different non-deuchy place and it passed without an issue.

I thought the rule was 4 inches from the centerline.

    Re: Rejected for inspection sticker

Yeah, I was going to be rejected too. I was pissed. I was like "If you already know before even looking at it your going to fail me then don't bother" Until I find a less "douchy" station I'm just going to ride without. WTF bike is 10yrs old, god knows how long it's had its aftermarket tail kit. Passed all the other years. There should have been a "grandfathered in" law or something.

If anyone knows of a less anal place, could you pass it along please........thanks.

i've had good luck with performance cycles in shrewsbury and i would suggest avoid the "fuck it" route. no inspection sticker is a moving violation and it will impact your insurance, trust me.

Another option is to keep your bike looking as if it does pass inspection.

I have mods which would otherwise fail me but since my visual items all pass (signals, reflectors, mirrors, rear fender, etc, are all intact) as well as riding in on clean, well-maintained equipment......all this added together lends to my passing inspection from year to year, without issue.

    Re: Rejected for inspection sticker

i actually kept the stock rear tail, just to install for inspection. i usually have to put the tail on, put the stock front turn signals on, relocate the plate and rear turn signals. bout 1 hour worth of work swapping stuff out. i only get the bike inspected because i rode in ny last year and they're assholes about everything. bar height, loud pipes, plate location, and paperwork. before that i rode almost 7 years without a sticker. even when i got pulled over they never even looked, so i just said fuck it. reminds me-replacing the front forks for the newly chromed setup and i still got 3 months left on the old sticker. looks like i'm gonna have to swap everything out myself here shortly.

    cheers odieoh24

I wonder if my integrated tail light will pass inspection? Seems much brighter and more visible to me, to the state we shall see. Anyone get a bike inspected with one?

    Re: Rejected for inspection sticker

this year in ma it's tied to your registration. if someone runs your plate there supposed to be able to tell if you've got a valid sticker.
if i were to guess by next year they'll cancel your reg if you don't get a sticker.

    go to a harley shop.

i found a great yamaha dealer in western ma!
no bs, i had a plate light out on the super duke and they let me change it on the spot.

    great guys!

Dont post the shop you went to that helped you out by not hassling you during inspection.. This is a public forum and that could lead to them having issues.

    yup

im an idiot and played the 'fuck it' card early in the season with the new bike. got yanked THREE times, twice in one ride, and was issued a ticket during the second stop for no inspection sticker. this was all a mile or so from the house checking the bike out...

2 points just popped up on my insurance for it.

Higgins out in Barre = used them the past two years. good guys.

    Re: Rejected for inspection sticker

Me and my friends went through a few issues.

Biggest seemed to be that the rear blinkers must be at least 9 inches apart.....

A few harley friends failed cause of this.

I failed because of the flush mount fronts, they have to be facing forward. Guy said that last year i would have passed no problem, but as stated above me, this year it is tied right to the registration, and aparently down to the exact technician. He said he didn't give a care what i did when i pulled out of the lot, but that i had to drive in legal, and drive out legal.

Right after he said he wouldn't pass me (didnt give me a rejection sticker) I went into the store, asked for the cheapest blinkers that will make my bike pass. He sold me some for 17 bucks. A couple hours later i went back with the new blinkers on, paid my 15 bucks, got my sticker.

I actually hit up a guy who runs an "out-of his garage" bike repair shop in Blackstone on Mendon St. and he was fine with the aftermarket stuff.

I believe the rule regarding directionals is from center.

Mass sucks. That's why I live in CT where there's no annual inspections for bikes.

I know exactly who you're talkin' about. Had to step in his "garage" which was full of Bud cans...

The place I go to is in Bellingham... and he'll just say, "I don't throw you under the bus, you don't throw me under the bus. You put all this stuff on after you got this sticker..." Also says, "I don't care what you do, as long as your bike is safe." Rough around the edges and blunt, but a good guy.

Also, I usually show up with luggage on a clean/waxed bike, full gear on, etc. (just usually how I ride anyway)... so I dunno if that helps or not.

I live here and never knew that place existed. is it a shop or just a gas station that does inspections?
