More like tire mold release oils that need to be scrubbed off slowly on new tires with a helping of throttle.

someone told me once before to wipe down your tires with alcohol to get rid of the oil on there. I'm wondering if there are any issues this may cause wth the tires later on

Makes no difference... The mold release solution from the making of the tire is what makes them so slick right out of the box, so to speak. The tire needs to go through a couple of heating and cooling cycles (pun intended..) about a 100 miles is the rule of thumb, to get rid of that compound... YMMV.
And yes, brake cleaner and/or alky May have some adverse effect on tire life, but I dunno....
