as Tony mentioned on another site ... this video is a great example of the bike NOT wanting to crash ... the rider did NOTHING to the bike once traction started to go away, just let the front correct itself (over and over) ...

props to the rider for doing exactly what you should do ... nothing

I got really confused at first when they started to play it backwards. I was like he can't possibly be sliding in reverse.

if it is, someone did not pat it down, that's for sure.... that stuff is usually almost part of the track by the time the cornerworkers are done with it... craziness.

there's always dust left over you can see a cloud of it each time a bike passes for at least two or three races after it's been put down on the line.

not to the bike ... probably pushed his knee hard into the ground to encourage the bike to stay on two wheels, but if you looks at his arms they are flapping in the wind as the front end makes all the corrections and he does nothing to the bike itself

He did the HARDEST thing possible... which is nothing... or as close to nothing as you can do in that situation.

I think the combination of having a lot of his weight on the ground - with minimimal bar input - allowed the bike to get through the worst of it.

Most people (myself included) would have either let go completely, or used their arms to try and recover once the guy was basically on the ground.

Either action would have resulted in less than stellar results.

Riding the track in the wet is the best place to play with both tires sliding... with fairly minimal consequences. The best rain riders can do their bar input to get the bike turned... and then basically "go limp" as far as bike inputs... even when the tires start sliding. And then they are able to start feeding in throttle at just the right amount/time, again while keeping their body movements from upsetting the bike.

I really like watching rain races.
