I'm tracing the route for the Saturday ride right now. We're gonna do a loop thru NY and VT state. Since it will be on a Saturday, I expect some decent traffic on Rte 2 in MA...Rte 2 is absolutly gorgeous tho...Do you guys think we should stay on route 100 in VT after we cross from NY? Is it more quiet with less traffic? What about the scenery (is it as gorgeous as Rte 2?) and road condition? Thanks...

Traffic can be a pain on RT100 from what JeffL experience, when D and I were on it around 3pm headed south we had no one around us. We were cruising around 60 with no problem.
It is all a crap shoot

Was it on a week or weekend day? How about the scenery? I'd hate to trade Rte 2 for anything less beautiful...

Rt. 100 is hit or miss. If you take 100 south, I'd cut west on 9, take Rt. 8 south back to 100 east, and cut down 112 to Rt. 2, because they are all basically awesome roads, but thats just me. I'd say theres a snowballs chance in hell that you'll get any appreciable distance on Rt. 2 with 40 bikers and not get stuck in traffic all over hell and back. Theres only a few miles on Rt. 2 worth riding anyways, unless of course you are talking about the Taconic Trail, and in that case.
The route better not suck, cause otherwise I'm being a mutaneer and hitting the roads I know up this way.:
I know a little about everything, and alot about nothing.
I went for a long ride Thursday, Rte 2 to 91 to hmmm was it 9 then 100...great riding, great scenary...

Beware the counterfeit Mini!
There was some roadwork, not much, I road to I believe exit 5 which brings you to 91...
I left Quincy at 1pm, hoping I wouldn't hit too much traffic, was fine, got home at 930, some rain for the last 1/2 hour of the ride...all in all great ride...thought there would be more traffic but wanted to get to VT, haven't been in two months...

If you're gonna do 100 up here, make sure to go far enough north/west to get 100B, it's an awesome stretch of road, some nice curves, great pavement, good views.
I have a tip for you misstwisties...........take as many dirt roads as possible!!!!

Your route sucked, bad.
I could ride every day for a week, and not do as much town center and city riding in that entire week, as we did in a few hours on your route up to and threw Pittsfield.
I know a little about everything, and alot about nothing.
