insight into a Suzuki CDI issue.

Found a '92 Suzuki GSF400 Bandit on Craigslist for 1200 bucks... runs ok, the guy says he thinks it's a CDI issue... He replaced it already, the second one went bad, replaced it w/ the original & it runs alright and he's bidding on one on ebay right now for about 250 bucks.

my question is, what could create an issue like this? I'm gonna go check it out on Sunday with my girl... she loves the bike but I don't wanna be replacing the CDI every season for her.

There should be at least one forum on the board where you can ask for help or a serious question and not have to endure this......

If its not something obvious like the mount is really loose and vibrations are causing it to go bad.

    Or

Its mounted in a place were it is getting wet.

Then the other reason would be a surge... did you check all the wiring? There must be a short somewhere... any bare or burnt wires?

+1. btw this was my first bike (years ago). great little motorcycle, handles awesome, but _no_ midrange. was also a cold-running bitch (even with hotter plugs thrown in there). be curious to hear if it's all stock or not... (that was the way to go w/ these, a pipe was a waste of $$)

Bummer... I'd love to come but next weekend I'll be getting a dose of LWSM and PTWN.

You wanna come see the Bandit w/ me? It's out in Springfield... Plan was to drop my girl's friend off at the airport Sunday around 2 then drive out there but if ya wanna take the bikes out for a two up cruise out to see it I'm sure my girl could go for that.

I would look at the voltage when its wound out

if its like 15 or greater your just cooking it

probably could through a regulator inline
