    bike starting issues

well, trying to start the bike from a winter of neglect

    not really

I wintereized with stabil, up on stands and removed battery and put it on a tender.

went to go start itlast weekend and nothing just a click but enough juice for horn, signals headlights etc.

so i put the battery back on tender( showedit was reharging) wait 3 days , tender says the battery is good..
put it in and nothing , just a click and nothing else.
Before i go buying a new battery thoughts ideas???
only thing i did this winter was change the left side stator cover where I had to disconnect the stator it self.

could that be an issue? its also a sealed battery.arghhh....

I would first double check the stator connection. Make sure the connectors are clean, and then reconnect it and make sure its on good.

If that looks good I'd go ahead and buy another battery. If its more then 2-3 years old it's time to change it according to another thread that I just read about batteries.

I do have one question though, you said you waited 3 days for the battery to charge? Did it need 3 days to fully charge up or you just left it for 3 days. As long as you kept the battery charged over the winter it shouldnt take that long (I could be wrong).

If you have a volt meter you should connect that and see what the readout is when you crank the engine on startup.

Not to state the obvious, but check the kill switch. This happened to me last week. My landlord moved my bike in the garage and must have hit it. I don't use it, so when I tried to start the bike and it wouldn't go, I started cking everything, fuses wires, battery connection, then I sat on the seat looked at the bars and and realized the switch was off. Man I felt like an idiot till 3 of mr friends told me they'd done the same thing

Check the wiring for the stator, if the harness for the pulse coil (if your bike uses this), it wont start, because the coils arent being "told" to fire spark. Or is the bike not even cranking over at all?

Can't help but think the battery charger might be the problem. Slap a 10 amp charger on there for an hour and see if it fires up.

i'lll do some picking at it this wed night i think.this is frustrating..

bike doesnt even crank over..... all I hear is a 1 click from the near the battery( little black cyclindrical thing)
    and then nothing.
the battery was hooked up for 3 days it didnt take 3 days to load it tok more than 24 hours at the least because i left it charging at 5pm and check it the next day at 4 pm and it was still "charging"

My buddy's bike was doing the same when I was trying to start it for him. It was the battery. The battery had like a 12 volt charge when i tested it but it didnt hold the charge when I tried to start it. Check the connection to the bike also.

The little click is the solenoid operating. So everything is working up to the starter.
    It is your battery

Hey like I said on the phone, sometimes a battery will not take a charge if its in a wacky state unless it is FULLY uncharged. Jump a headlinght or something to it to kill it, make sure the battery is topped off, if possible.

How old is the battery? If it's more than a few years old maybe just scrap it for new one?

    Wrong

If you totally uncharge a lead acid battery it will take

    1 charge

then the sulphates will fall down and short out the plates

dead dead dead dance with the reaper for all time never to return

take the battery out of the circuit just jump and idle from your car if it works fine check the voltage while at fast idle should be over 13 volts to prove charging

Buy a new battery and be happy

If you can trickle charge it overnight it will last another year vs directly in the bike
