    Installed a Hidden Hitch today.

I have a mustang gt and I bought a trailer hitch for it from a company called Hidden Hitch. They make trailer hitches for all types of vehicles and try and use existing holes on your car to bolt too. Pretty good design, all the holes lined up but had to mess with my exhaust as part of the installation. It was a pain in the ass to install and I won't get into it but they claim it takes 40 minutes to install.......haha...Well just a warning for anyone thinking about getting one of these for your car, they use some cheap grade bolts. I had to torque only 30 ft/Lb on a 3/8" bolt and stripped 3 out of 4 bolts. The 3 that stripped never made it to 30 ft/lb. My suggestion is to replace the cheapo "carriage" bolts that come with the kit with a stronger steal bolt. It really sucks because to replace these bolts, I'd have to totally re-install this thing(can't explain in detail but you have to drop the whole hitch to replace these bolts). I'm going to try adding a few washers to fill in the gap of destroyed threads and hope the remaining threads don't strip as well. Well, sorry for a rant but I'd hate to see someone else go through the BS I just went through.

Well, the hitch isn't welded on so it can be removed. It adds like 30 LB to the rear so I guess I'll have some better traction.

And it will be lighter when your drivetrain falls out

Just for the sake of... well I dunno... cause I wanna say it

I have used Hidden Hitch on my last three trucks without one issue on any of them... I started buying them because of their low profile and have had great luck... no bolt issues... and definately no issues towing with them... I'm no metal expert as to say whether the bolts aren't strong enough etc... but my thought would be that it would be a lot of liability on their part if their product was snapping bolts left and right ya know...

anyway... hope you have better luck with it...

there def a pain in the ass to install, i used to work at uhaul installing hitches, wiring and brake controllers. when it says 40 minutes thats assuming that you have all the right tools and equipment, we had a stand that would hold the hitch in place while you messed with the bolts.

I just saw one on a car this saturday. Fairly low profile except for the big decal that said hidden hitch, which was counterproductive to the whole idea if you ask me

I called the 1-800 # they provide in the instructions for fitment issues today. I girl in a sexy voice on an answering machine says to call this other 1-800 #. Ok so I call the other number and its a phone sex hot line. WTF my Monday was already all screwed up from the start. When I get home from work I got the correct # from the distributor I bought the hitch from and call them. Blah blah I'm getting new hardware sent to me and the person I spoke to concluded possibly the hitch wasn't made properly and to check the date on the label when I re-install this thing. Oh the sex hotline was a typo they have on the instructions haha.

Jay sorry to hear you had trouble. Mine went on in under 30 min. with no issue. Not that I have a Mustang GT but otherwise no problem.

I guess you didn't have to call the miss-printed 1-800 # for fitment issues..... HAHA talk about an unsatisfied customer at that point.
