    Good read.

My friend got pulled over last Saturday, cop gave him a bunch of BS reasons for pulling him over. Come to find out he was just buying time on the stop to catch a better look at my buddy's passenger, a 25 yr old hottie brunette wearing a high thong.

Too bad he's receiving a written complaint because he just had to oggle a chick while "protecting and serving."

    Power corrupts absolutely.

    Good reading...

I had my own roadside conversation with NH Statie, last weekend. Too bad the guy was not very reasonable. I'll see him again, in court. Unfortunately, my fate will lie in the hands of a judge.

They need to be spending more time going after the REAL criminals!!!!

Good read Degs, I certainly don't agree with this LEO's statement: "Regardless if you like it or not, Police Patrols are exempt from laws regulating speed, direction of movement and parking. Most mature, responsible adults understand the need for this."

Certainly, police need to be able to step outside the law when public safety requires it, i.e. a high speed chase. But the subject was Texas LEO's being exempt from speed regulations regardless of whether they were responding to an emergency. I can't see the need for that, we can't be breeding a generation of LEO's who feel they are exempt from the same laws they are expected to uphold. I've heard similar statements made in regards to DUI, as in a police officer will never be cited for a DUI, and I think that's quite despicable if it actually happens. If anything, an officer of the law should be held to a higher standard of law, not made to feel they are somehow above it because of their authority.

    Quis custodiet ipsos custades?

(No offense intended to the LEOs here btw, just commenting on the role of law enforcement in general...)

They really don't want us to see that most LEOs have a genuine disdain for sportbikers.

I also hate that term,"crotchrockets", it sounds so damn ignorant.

Actually, if you read the mass state drivers handbook it tells you that Police and court officials are exempt from traffic tickets as a matter of professional courtesy.

i think it's less of a case of disagreeing with the truthfulness, more disagreeing with the sentiment.

    my oft-repeated point remains:
if the speed limit (and other traffic laws) are about safety, why are police (and others) allowed to be unsafe?

A blonde police officer pulls over a blonde in a convertible sports car for speeding. She walks over to the car and asks the driver for some I.D. The driver searches through her purse in vain. Finally she asks, "What does it look like?" The police officer tells her, "It's that thing with your picture on it." The blonde driver searches for a few more seconds, pulls out her compact, opens it, and sure enough sees her picture. She hands the compact to the blonde cop. The cop looks at the compact for a few seconds then rolls her eyes, hands the compact back to the driver and says, "If you had told me you were a police officer when I first pulled you over we could have avoided this whole thing."

what is your unsafe speed limit?

there should be different speed limit for motorcycle than car.

...not to mention a different speed limit for different roads, different times of day, different weather conditions, etc, etc...

there's a LOT more involved than just saying, "XXX is my maximum safe speed".
