    ISO New Gloves, need help...

    Hello,

So I am looking for a new set of gloves by I am picky as my hands are.. LOL

I recently purchased a set of Dianese Carbon 3 short gloves in Medium. Which felt okay wearing, but riding it feels like I am wearing oven mitts. They feel clunky and my fingers are maybe 1/2 to 3/4 an inch shorter from the tips..
    https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/...sku_id=1731803

I currently use a cheaper Joe Rocket super Moto gloves in Medium. They are mainly mesh with minimal protection, but they fit amazing.
    https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/...er-moto-gloves

Can anyone provide a suggestion based on that?

    How are Held gloves?

Everybody seems to love the Held Phantom. The ones I tried didn't fit my hands well. I've always loved Heroic. I've had 3 pairs. Little pricey, but feel amazing from the first day.

Last pair of gloves I bought were rs taichi and they are very comfortable as well.

You could always come up to the track and try some shit on. Seacoast is usually set up with a trailer. Todd from Heroic has been periodically showing up too.

Held all the way. Call Seacoast https://seacoastsport.com/. Not far from Andover, and tax-free. Good crew there. They'll get you set up.

I need new short cuff gloves myself. I've been kicking it around for a while. I'm gonna try these from sbtg and see how they are.

If you can afford kangaroo, or at least kangaroo palms, you'll never go back. They also seem to last forever.

I like these for short gloves. I use them for supermoto so I don't get arm pump.

I had a couple pairs of helds. They were okay, not that comfortable. Crashed em a couple times and they took some damage.

I switched to some higher end Rev'It gloves and will stick with them.
    https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/...sku_id=1184038

The double velcro wrist seems to give actual wrist support. They are more comfortable. They look better. All that said, haven't crash tested them yet. Looks like the Spitfire have been replaced by the Quantum 2 or the League.

SC had a wall of Alpinestars and RevIt gloves last time I was in there. I believe Held has had some distribution issues, but I'm hearing that is better now... I dunno. May still be some lag in supply?

Held Phantoms for me. I have a pair of the originals bought secondhand probably 5 years ago and are still in pretty good shape. Since then I’ve picked up two barely used pairs to have as spares for when these are finally dead, think I paid $40-50 for each spare pair on eBay.

Honestly...I think the Held Phantom train is just an echo chamber. I drank the kool-aid at first. I drank some other. Now I'm off of it.

The fingers didn't fit right for me on the Phantom. S&C had some at the track that I tried on. I have a few friends who love them though.

Ever notice on the cheap, Joe Rocket mesh gloves that the black ink bleeds and stains your hands like every time you wear them? I thought it would stop after a little while. But it doesn't. Lol

Oddly never ever had that problem. Not even after being caught in a crazy thunderstorm on the way home.
I've also never washed my gloves, outside of riding in the rain.. lol..

Re: ISO New Gloves, need help...

I have never bought a pair of gloves I didn't try on first, now that I think of it, I have bought more pairs at MotoMart than anywhere else, Is there a new meeting place, cafč/gear shop where riders gather ?

I've also bought gloves at bike shows.. but with Covid, are these things happening , I bought a pair at Boston show once, and my favorite pair, at a Montrčal show, and a pair once at the Lancaster NH Fair

every time I see gloves, I start trying em on, even if I don't need a pair, if I can find my 3XL size I buy em

Re: ISO New Gloves, need help...

I understand the comments about the Held cool aid and them not fitting well etc. What I found was that where the older Held gloves were hand made it would lead to different pairs of even the same size glove fitting differently. I would have to try on multiple pairs to find the one that fit the best and that is the pair I would buy. Not sure if the newer Helds are made the same way or not but if they are trying multiple pairs might be the solution to some of the fitment issues.

Gloves to me are like helmets. As long as you are buying a quality brand that doesn't have issues with construction then the most important part is fit. Name brand only matters so far.

Re: ISO New Gloves, need help...

Another interesting trick/hack is something I have heard people use with their leathers as well as gloves etc.

Put the gloves on and then dunk your hand into a warm bucket of water and manipulate the gloves around on your hand while they are wet to where they fit how you like them to. Let them dry while still on your hand. This supposedly shapes the leather more to your hand and would make them more comfortable for you.

As far as leathers go, I've heard stories of people with brand new leathers putting them on and hopping into a warm shower and then getting on their bikes in the riding position to do the same thing.

I have never done either method however I have noticed that my leather gloves become more comfortable after getting caught in the rain where they get soaked through and then dry while finishing the ride. Guessing the combination of being wet and drying while being used for their intended purpose has a net positive effect.

We used to do that with baseball gloves: Put them on, then stick your hand in a bucket of water. Work your fingers in the glove for a bit, then put a baseball in the web and wrap the glove up around. Then we'd tie a rope around the glove and wouldn't touch it for a week. After the week went by, we'd open 'er up and drench it in leather oil.
