    Probably a 1 crash suit.

I wouldn't risk it. Anything that's untested like that I view me buying their product as them hiring me as a "test pilot". No thanks.

If money is the issue just go to any reputable site or store and shop the closeouts.

I have one of these suits. Low sided in turn six this past summer and it held up fine, just blew out one small seam along my forearm.

Looks shady and suspect. As cheap as I am, I'd feel much better about spending more money elsewhere.

Could very well be made in the same factories with the same materials as the stuff you're used to seeing (Joe Rocket, Icon, Tecknic) just without the branding. You'd be amazed at how cheap stuff sells when you don't have to support a Marketing Department.

Its a tough call buying unknown leathers since they can save your life. they maybe good for a poser or low speed crashes but when it really matters they may just fall apart.
If its a money thing id try looking into used gear. Ive been grabbing up some vintage suits on ebay from dainese and agv and they still look like they could take a crash well. Id trust the older real suits vs the cheap possibly dangerous no name suits anyday.
If its a looks thing id say what the hell and just buy one.

Why am I getting rolled in with the pissing and moaning people? The guy asked for experience so I gave mine. I'll be using the suit again this season.

    LAZY!

The one thing I will say about this suit is that the zippers aren't the greatest, but they're easy to replace.

I'm not pissing and moaning at all. All I said was even being a cheapskate, I'd rather spend my money on something I know the quality of. Price and quality go hand in hand, and in my opinion those look like a one and done suit. Maybe this seems like I'm a product of good marketing, but a 200$ leather suit doesn't give me warm and fuzzy feelings.

And I'd rather pay for something that I know has been researched, tested & proven to work.

    Just being argumentative ...

Does a brand imply research, testing and proving?

Reading the description of these they sound very much like the descriptions of many brands. While the armor itself is rated in some cases, as far as I know there is no standard for testing of the entire suite.

    Re: Jackets4Bikes.com?

Having a brand behind it means there is a chain of liability behind it. When things go pear shaped and it's obvious the gear you bought flat out failed in it's primary role, you have an entity you can go after. As a result, said entity has a stake in making sure what goes out there with their label has at least some QC going on. Even if it's just to reduce the impact of returns for defects.

Uncle humper is right, these could be out of the same factory that's turning out brand name stuff. Or, as is ALSO common in these environments they could be from the factory next door that couldn't produce to said brand name's QC standards and didn't get the contract but was geared up to produce suits anyways so...

@Kurlon - valid argument, but different than Oreo's. Accountability may be important, but is different than "proven". The Pinto is proof of that.

Totally agree. I'll add that with Chinese products for example, sans brand there is no such thing as 'proven' either as you've no idea if the unit Bob bought off the same rack as yours came out of the same factory with the same QC. His may hold up great, yours may fall apart as you take it off the hanger, etc.

Accountability is nothing. My new A* gloves(had about 6 tds on them) blew apart in a crash. I contacted A* and they couldn't care less. They sent me some canned response that had nothing to do with the subject. Im also pretty sure that whatever big name brand company leathers bergs was wearing when he lowsided in 11 didnt give a fuck either when the zipper came apart which camewide open and gave him roadrash on his shoulder. Does anyone know a leather company that has any sort of warranty? I mean what could they even guarantee?

I'm with Kurlon. I'd rather have a KNOWN BRAND with a REPUTABLE COMPANY than any no-name brand shit that I've never heard of. If you think your chances of getting any sort of compensation for failed gear is BETTER with a knock-off then I've got a bridge to sell you.

If a suit fails and you're killed or significantly disabled due to obvious manufacturer flaw, hitting a bigger brand with a lawsuit will be far more productive if you come out with a win than Joe Chaaruchandrashalakamagamallama (Shmoe) Leather.

    Re: Jackets4Bikes.com?

I don't expect any compensation from anyone if any of my gear fails me. That is not even on my radar when gear shopping.

My insurance company may feel otherwise.

I agree with the idea of buying something with a rep. But my idea of a rep is something that others with similar riding habits, etc have used and speak positively of. Basically, whatever you guys say.

I do firmly believe that this is a rare situation where 'you get what you pay for'. Other than that, no - I have no review of that particular site nor products. At the very least, I'd bump my search up at least a few hundred beans, including 'discount' suits. But that's just me. Ya wanna argue that, then g'head and have fun with it. That's all I got...

Have a lawyer contact the company about the issue and see if their response changes. A* *will* respond to that, your lawyer will have an entity to pursue, these guys will close shop and reopen under a new name. That's the difference.
