Just wondering but is there any gain in putting a jet kit in before getting a new exhaust ?

Nope it's a waste of money unless you modify the airbox.....
You can run a pipe with it set as stock....

Really? I thought most bike were jetted very lean from the factory in order to meet emissions, and had a flat spot around 6-7k rpm because that's where they do noise testing. I've heard of people with stock pipes rejetting to richen out the mixture, are they just wasting their money?

well considering the airbox physically restricts what's going in...it won't screw up the bike on stock jetting...I know..we tested with my brothers SV650.
If he wants to rejet..it'll just run rich, and his mileage will go down a bit, but power wise, he has to do the airbox mod to take any advantage of it.

so even jettting with a new exhaust won't do much without a airbox mod ? Does the new generation K&N filters help out the airflow , or do I have to desnorkle it or what ever

Take note from a very wise 45 year old...with more years riding experience than you have had on this earth...

LEAVE THE BIKE STOCK, AND LEARN TO RIDE IT PROPERLY....
you haven't come close to what that bike has to offer you.
As for a Gixxer 750......save your pennies for a nice birthday/christmas present for your girlfriend.

But when we ride very fast motorcycles, we ride with immaculate sanity. We might abuse a substance here and there, but only when it's right. The final measure of any rider's skill is the inverse ratio of his preferred Traveling Speed to the number of bad scars on his body. It is that simple: If you ride fast and crash, you are a bad rider. If you go slow and crash, you are a bad rider. And if you are a bad rider, you should not ride motorcycles.

Ok, step away from the crack pipe!! j/k

I'd wait a year before you do any performance mods.. I try and wait at least a year before I decide what mods I want and what-not because alot of times I change my mind or the fascination I had with something fades.. d'oh.. The best thing you could do for the Sv is upgrade the suspension.. and you don't need to do that till your riding it to its limits.. the best upgrades are always you're own skills.. and the faster rider is usually the one with the skills... not necessarily more hp.

If you wanna loft the front with ease, pull of the airbox take the needels out of the carbs, take the little washer off the top and put it on the bottom of the needle, go to www.svrider.com and look up mods, before I did this I couldn't get the front up for anything, then bam it was real easy to loft it

    Your kidding me right ?

Isn't the airbox needed for filtering out stuff from getting into the engine ?

while you're at, throw in some bangin hydraulics. cause then you could use them to spring the front end up for wheelies and lower it when you are cornering.
how cool would it be to bounce around a parking lot at school?
