    Joe Rocket gear suck ASS

well I just got back from RMS, still minus my new ballistic 5.0 pants

    see this thread

this time they didn't even make it off the parts counter, the salesman opened up the bag and gave the tinyest tug on the belt buckle and it pulled out even easier than the last pair

no reorder this time, First Gear pants instead, hopefully they fit as good as the JR crap

When you put them on, do you actually have to walk like the goofs on the "pants" page? I think it would be kinda hard to ride like that

I'd let her pose like that for me if she wanted. The only stipulation is that I would get to see the pants.......

Anyone have any ideas for other overpants that are similar to the Joe Rocket pants?

Mine are pretty shot they really need to be replaced... I have my fancy schmancy Dainese pants for traveling and all day rides but I'm looking for something cheap that can go over jeans for riding around to work, etc.. (don't want to have to go to the bathroom/locker room to change out of my motorcycle pants)

    overpants

    Ben,

Not cheap, $299 but FirstGear makes leather overpants that I've had my eye on for a while, I'm just cheap...but they look good, I've seen them upclose at MotoMart and went on a ride that one of the guys was wearing them, he indicated that they were well made and comforatable...

If the firstgear HT overpants are cordura I could do that... now way I'm spending $300 and no way I want leather for commuting, etc.. as I want some level of waterproofing.

FirstGear HT OverPants - I have em, they were decent overpants for me... Only complaint is that the liner zippers are kinda cheezy. Wrecked one after only 20 days in use... luckily I'm none too shabby with a needle and thread and its an ez fix.

OH, and don't even THINK that liner is waterproof. They are water RESISTANT at best... In most showers you stay dry, but in a downpour, better get out the rain gear

    Cheers,
    Chris

But when we ride very fast motorcycles, we ride with immaculate sanity. We might abuse a substance here and there, but only when it's right. The final measure of any rider's skill is the inverse ratio of his preferred Traveling Speed to the number of bad scars on his body. It is that simple: If you ride fast and crash, you are a bad rider. If you go slow and crash, you are a bad rider. And if you are a bad rider, you should not ride motorcycles.

I'm going to be getting some Icon timax pants. They come in mesh or normal for a little over a hundred bux. I know Icon isn't known for the protection ability but I don't think you can expect too much from a textile pant anyways.

Motoport Kevlar. I couldn't find better textile protection anyplace and it is top notch workmanship.

"Cycleport's Kevlar suits are the only synthetic apparel approved by the F.I.M., the A.M.A., the W.E.R.A. and many other racing organizations."

This guy is crashing on a racetrack left and right with it, and he is pretty happy with it.

"I've been riding and racing for thirty plus years and this is the best riding suit I've owned. It is lighter than leathers,it breathes, stretches and it fairs better when I've crash tested on many occasions. I bought both jacket and pants in 1996 from Wayne at the S.F. Motorcycle Show and it has been the best purchase of riding gear I've made. After sliding down the road on my leathers the first time I wanted to cry after looking at the damage. The GP2 suit looked as good as new after several low speed get offs. The one time it did take minor damage was after I was pinned under my bike at about 35-40 miles an hour. I sent the pants back to have the right Knee patched and when it came back, not only did they patch the knee, but, also replaced the liner and waist band for the price they quoated for the patch. I just ordered my second set and recommend these suits to everyone that rides the tracks and canyon twisties with a serious need for throttle therapy. Thanks again Wayne for such a fine product!!!"

This guy lowsided at 65 and it worked out...

"Well, Thunderhill turn 6 got me recently because my tires weren't warmed up. I low-sided at 65mph and slid cleanly and predictably for 90 feet on my gear...then I tried to get up, while still going 35mph (classic racer mistake based on speed perception). This caused me to tumble hard impacting on the pavement in a number of places, including somehow my left armpit. I walked away without a bruise or a scratch. Thunderhills pavement is particularly rough and I went down pretty hard, while repair is certainly called for the suit's protective layers were never penetrated. Cycleport's gear performed exactly as they specified in a serious high speed crash, I continue to recommend Cycleport kevlar gear as a superior alternative to leather."

thanx for the suggestions, but Joe rocket Gear still Sucks, I already have my FirstGear HT overpants. overall the quality looks good, they do look and feel like snowpants thought more than motorcycle gear.

I bought them at Rochester Motorsports, my local dealer, they gave them to me for the same price as the JR even thought the retail was $40 more, and I only paid my discounted price$135 for the JR, so I ended up with almost 35% off
