Which is more expensive? A guy on the BMW car forum I'm on has a shift kart and was saying how cheap it is compared to tracking a car. I'm curious if that holds true when compared to tracking a motorcycle.
Discuss.
LOL. Tracking a car is about as expensive as tracking your bike.............. by yourself.

I would think cars would be more expensive than bikes. Eats way more gas, tires and brakes.
One track day in the Mustang is close to $200 in consumables + whatever you pay for the day ($200-400 extra).
No clue on karting costs.
KARTS.
I don't know how expensive a kart is to run, but they look like fucktons of fun.

I'd love to get into karting if I knew where and how to get into it. Are there any local clubs and tracks?

I'm not concerned about cars. I'm wondering the cost difference between BIKES and KARTS. I know tracking a CAR is expensive.
Karts are to Bikes like Pitbikes are to Cars.

My point is if you want cheap motorcycle racing, race NEMM or Mini motards.

Karting can get expensive. I personally have spent more on karting that I have on running a dedicated track bike (but I have also done more traveling for Karting).
same rules apply to anything that does on a track. Speed costs money, how fast do you want to go?
Karts range from a few thousand dollars to probably $10k+
If you can't Race it or take it to bed, it's not worth having..
I wanna do something fun. I tried ATV-MX and it wasn't for me.
That's what the guy races.
I mean without the value of the ride itself, it is defintely cheaper if youre doing trackdays only

I know it's not the answer to your question. But the cheapest racing I know of is off road dirt bike racing. Memberships are less than 100 a year with race fees in the 40$ range per day. A competitive bike can be made or bought for under 5k.
Karting is fun and it can get expensive if you actually want to be competitive and run at the front of the field. Some karting is cheaper than others, I used to run Briggs flathead karts. They weren't exactly cheap because the engines were pretty much maxed out.
That is me in the black kart and my older brother in the white one. Fun times.

The tires are way cheaper on karts. And you can rotate the outside two tires to the inside so has to keep the costs down. And karts are much safer. For me though, trail riding in the woods is cheap and safe and fun. That seems to be the direction I have been taking lately. I can go to Maine and ride for two weeks all costs included much cheaper than a weekend running at Loudon.
