Word on the street (Jalopnik, actually) is that the pictured bike is actually the H2R, the race only version. Street version might not have all that goofy shit on it.

Here's some more internet chatter-
"Kawasaki H2R will be one of the most powerful motorcycles in the world . Perhaps the strongest . Depends if we appearances as Boss Hoss motorcycle category . The Japanese say that the engine has a " target of 300 horsepower ."
After much teasing offered by Kawasaki , we managed to get our hands on the first concrete details on the new Ninja H2 exotic name to be presented in a few tens of hours at Intermot Show in Cologne . So , with a hand luggage bag and one on the keyboard ( tomorrow we will be at Intermot ) , we present the latest details about Ninja H2 .
First, there will be two versions: H2 and H2R . H2 is the street version , and H2R will be conducted only on the track.
The engine has 998 cc four -line architecture and super-charged ( supercharger centrifugal scroll type for maniacs ) . Power : can reach 300 HP ( at least that we understand the " design target 300 ps " ) .
The engine on Ninja Kawasaki H2R was created in collaboration with other companies in the group Kawasaki (Gas Turbine & Machinery Company, Aerospace Company and Corporate Technology Division) and provides potrvit official release , acceleration " unprecedented " .
And this cooperation not only engine out , but the chassis . The trellis type is not only rigid , but also designed to take the pressure at high speed . The Kawaski say they have found the perfect balance between stiffness and flexibility , to not have to lengthen the wheelbase , which would have decreased maneuverability at low speeds .
And to be sure that Ninja H2 (or H2R ) does not take off when you accelerate , Japanese engineers have put some carbon fiber wings to keep it glued to the asphalt when you go faster the wind .
Name Ninja know where it comes from (30 -year history of sport) . As for H2 , is the legacy model 750 H2 Mach IV , which had a 748.2 cc engine .
So far, so I found and these are the only photos. After the official launch at Intermot , we see the rest. Of course, keep you updated with information and photos directly from the Salon ."

It's growing on me... I don't hate it at least. And if the looks are functional, as claimed, that's cool. I think it's pretty cool that Kawasaki has done something as radical as this instead of just more of the same old stuff.

It seems it only came in at 296 bhp. (..). http://youtu.be/jmSPbLdh5P0
So, is this the new, official beginner's bike?

I think aside from the wings that it looks mean as hell. I think I'll wait for the Z1000 H2, though.

Just like the original Z1, the H series two strokes, Ninja 1k/900, etc.
Kawasaki takes the leap forward in power. I'd hit it.
