    Re: Kawi ZZR

Which ZZR??? 1100? They came in 250, 600, 1100 and 1200 guise. The best sold were probably the 1100. They were missiles - fast with a lot of torque. Also, comfortable for sports bikes, but kind of heavy. Check out http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/bi...ki/_/N-151+189

Heavy, but ride well. Maintenance seemed fine just has the Kawi timing tick noise.

I have a spare rear wheel, some race bodywork and a couple odds and end I will sell you cheap.

    Re: Kawi ZZR

I've got a 2008 ZZR600. I bought it in July of 2010 with 579 miles on it. As of yesterday it has 10,850 miles. I absolutely love this bike. It has the performance to go have a GREAT time at a track day, and the comfort to do a 400 mile day with ease. I regularly get 50mpg. For mods I have a slip on Yoshi pipe and a K&N air filter (also rejetted so that it runs properly...which only took two jets ~$5 total). I have a set of saddle bags/tail bag and it has no problem being loaded up with gear OR another person.

If you have any more specific questions feel free to ask here or PM me!

    Re: Kawi ZZR

I have ridden and maintained a buddies ZZR 1200. It is deceivingly fast and smooth as butter. More of a fast sweeper kind of bike then a point and thrust knee dragger. At speed the body position and wrist pressure is ok. You can eat up alot of miles in relative comfort.
On the maintenance front, the carbs and valves are very easy to access. Shimming the needles will get rid of a 4k flat spot. A jet kit isn't needed for a slip-ons. Most everything else is your basic sportbike stuff.

Asking if anyone's owned a ZZR is almost like asking if anyone's owned a Ninja. As Dan said, they came in many flavors. Which fuckin one ya talkin bout?

The one I have an opportunity to buy is a 600 from 07.

I do rreally like the look of the 1400...as well as the flatter seat...but its probably too heavy for me to enjoy.

The 07 won a comparison against the YZF600 and CBR600F4i in MCN. It has a terrific motor and fairly comfortable compared to the supersports of the time.

I don't really know why everyone keeps saying it's heavy. I went from a 1993 EX500 to my 2008 ZZR600 and didn't think once, "HOLY SHIT THIS THING IS A FUCKING PIG". Wikipedia has the ZZR600 at 377lbs dry. The EX500 is 370lbs dry......HOLY CRAP SEVEN POUNDS!!
As for weight, go try it yourself.

I've got an 02 1200 ZZR which I ride on the street all the time, have almost logged 70K miles on it. Great all round bike if you don't mind something large and heavy, although the weight does disappear once under way. The bike is a missle.

It is a good bike but it is heavier than more recent bikes and is more of a comfy bike like a Katana. Had plenty of pep on the track but it wasn't as flickable as alot of the bikes I have ridden.

    Re: Kawi ZZR

Wet weight is 445 lbs which is the same as the 2010 GSX600 and only about 20 pounds more than the current ZX6R and R6. The Daytona 675 and CBR600RR are the lightest at around 407 pounds. Anyway, those differences are very small and it is not a heavy bike

The zzr1200 has a dry weight of 520 lbs. exactly the same as my kz1000. I love the zzr1200, deceptively fast and comfortable, as well as easy to work on. thier not real popular, kawasaki did a crap job of marketing them so u dont see them often. I get 50 mpg out of mine riding it civilized, but goes downhill to about 43 mpg operating the warp drive.

    Re: Kawi ZZR

I ride an 03 ZZR 1200. I bought it new because I wanted a big/heavier bike in order to fit my size, and have the speed, stability, speed to go on short or long trips with ease. No issues with it ever...easy to maintain and did I mention fast? The weight "issue" is relative. The only weight issue with the bike I have is that you must look at the speedometer to know you are going triple digits; the weight of the rocket makes it seem like you are simply floating along. The faster you go, the smoother she is. (the bike you sicko!!) I've not ridden the 600 version, but from all reports/reviews, you will not be sorry.
