    Kendon trailers

On Kendons website, they say they have a hitch height of 21", does that sound right to anyone that has one? Right now I have a hitch on my car thats 14", a 7 inch rise would seem a little excessive for that, but maybe Im wrong there?

Yup, 21" is right. Ground to top of ball I think. That's what mine was. I had to take a drop hitch and flip it into a rise off the back of my jeeps. Couldn't open the back hatch when it was hooked up.

Cripes, so by your guestimate 14-15 inches would be way too low

A drawbar with 5-7" total rise is NBFD. We use one when we tow our boat with the Outback H6.

Yeah, would be too low. Something like this used as a rise (plus the ball, obviously) should get you close http://www.curtmfg.com/part/45080

Did you finally give in and pick one up?

Going tomorrow to look at a used one. Hopefully can find a mount first though.

WalMart has a wide selection of drawbars.

    Re: Kendon trailers

Going from the ~3" drawbar that came with my Subaru hitch to a 5 3/4 made a huge difference in how my Kendon loads and handles. Much happier with it now. Bought the higher rise bar from etrailer.com but you may have better luck locally if you have a Class III or IV hitch.

I believe that it's around ~19" total (ground to top of ball) so still a little lower than the Kendon spec.

Yeah, I just went out and bought a 4" rise, puts the top of ball at 21", so, close enough.

Well, ended up buying the 2 rail version for 1500 bucks. Things in gorgeous shape. Not sure how I'm gonna store this in my garage, at least until its cleaned up a bit. Especially since it is taller than my garage door, but oh well. Least I can go riding again!

Congrats. It was taller than my last garage door as well. Roll it in, drop the door, and then lift it up...just don't get hung up on the door track!

    Re: Kendon trailers

Ok stupid question, whats the bracket underneath the trailer for? Id assume to mount a spare, but it seems a bit low for a tire.

Spare. I did find that it touched down when I had the lower rise ball mount.

Moved it in the interest of lower tongue weight.

You guys ever tow just one light (dirty) bike on the side? I know the site says you can have one heavy bike because of the suspension or whatever, but I wonder if a light bike will work too?

Unless you have the heavy duty, I'd say non issue.

Yup, towed the 'tard alone countless times. Never a hint of a problem.

Doesn't care which side, one side, both sides, or loaded with random non-moto crap. You got a beast of a trailer, it'll do just about anything, including highway off-ramps at 'hot lap' pace (if your name is Q... ).

I let the S.O. drive home from NJMP a few years ago. Normal aggressive Boston commuting behavior for her (through NY traffic). Still have intact bike, trailer, car.

    Re: Kendon trailers

Another thought - removing the spare from the original mount made lifting the trailer up into the standing position considerably easier.
