I've taken the 750 out twice in a week for the first time this year and my question is how often should I/ how often do you clean your bikes. fellas who ride with sand still on the ground help a n00bie out. Is it absolutly priority number 1 to clean the sand off it after every ride? I was just thinking a sponge and some water would suffice once a week.

I think the salt spray would be of greater concern.
A good hose off after a ride would be of benefit.

Is the bike new? Don't take a sponge to it!
Get the sediment off first with water, otherwise you'll
scratch up the finish majorly.

you ask the question as if sand will go away at some point, it doesn't

unless your riding a harley or an old ujm with a steel frame, don't worry about salt, bug splats in the summer are many times more corrosive

in winter, I recommend rinsing the chain off with kero or wd-40 after a ride IF you don't have an automatic chain oiler, also squirt a can of brakleen at your calipers, don't worry about other dirt unless your vanity requires it, contrary to the whankers that are fraid to get their bike dirty, sand, salt won't harm anything

Garden hose, bucket full of soapy water, good quality 4" paint brush, use lots of water, did I mention water? I wash after every ride in these conditions A 4" paint brush is an amazing cleaning tool, it doesn't trap sand and rub it into the paint like a sponge or wash mitt...and it's a great way to stay in shape.

Don't put it away wet either. Electric leaf blower to remove the heavy water (make sure you blow off the chain) and some of those blue shop towels to dry the mist left on the paint. Start the bike, let it get up to temp, spray the chain with WD and put it away

Yeah, i sprayed the chain with WD-40 today and wiped it off. It was kinda rusty. The WD-40 made it shiny. I figured that was good.

I love fuel injection btw. Damn thing just started up.
