Forgive me if this is a repost. Everyone who relies on the U-Locks must be made aware of this before the bad guy gets your bike, because they certainly know about it... (i think only #1 and #4 work now)

I did not know about that. Thanks for the links. I'm glad I don't have to rely on one of those to keep my bike safe since I have it locked away in a garage.

Alright, so you caught me. If the title of the thread doesn't catch my eye, I don't even click it. By the name of the original thread "Lock Issues", I had no idea what it was about, so I didn't bother clicking it. You guys act like this is common knowledge about these locks. The original thread was only posted a few days ago.

No sorry I didn't mean about the krypto/pen deal - I was referring to your comment of tossing your machine in the garage is safety enough. (IMHO) Granted out of sight out of mind and I don't know where you live, but in some cases garages are easier targets and are definetely not skipped by criminals.

As compared to parking your bike sans lock in the middle of your driveway or tossing it in the garage - yes its safer, but the lock is always adviseable.

You bring up a good point. I do my best to keep my bike out of sight of anyone as much as possible. As soon as I get back from a ride I park in the garage. When leaving I warm up in the garage and leave as quickly as possible.

When riding home, I make sure no one is following me, and even if I only suspect I'm being followed, I will drive passed my road, and go through a series of side streets until I know that no one is actually following me before I go back home. I realize that this isn't the most secure way to keep my bike, but if it is ever stolen, I have insurance and already have my next bike picked out

Ok disregard my previous statement(s), you have passed the ssg-level paranoia test . I thought only I drove past my block and payed extra special attention to the license plates of my neighbors, now if you tell me you keep track of said information in your Palm© I'll recommend a great program for it too

Fortunately I have not digressed to the point of charting neighbors' license plates yet. If I do, I will be sure to let you know.

Ever check the stolen vehicle stats or crime in general for Nashua?

You live in one of the safest cities in the country... the chances of your bike getting stolen are pretty slim.

One of the reasons Nashua has recieved "best place to live" awards is very low crime and very high # of police.

This is another good point. I actually don't even know anyone who has ever had a car or bike stolen from them from Nashua, so maybe thats why I don't think much of it.
