Everything else checks the boxes, though.
There will be seats, windscreens, bar risers, and lowering foot pegs for humans of all shapes and sizes before long, just like every other single bike manufactured since forever.
I’m not huge, so I don’t find it cramped at all.

Just spent a week in Nova Scotia with a buddy, on his 2 week old 790r. No issues to report over 1500 miles (of 4500 miles of coastline). Only thing I've seen that's annoying is the fuel gauge starts a 1/2 tank. I heard the geometry of the tank makes it difficult to fit a full length float.

Yeah, weather like that happens only about 3 weeks out of a year in NS.

We drove through the storm that destroyed Canaan valley, on the way up. Hydroplaning the whole way. Thankfully we were in the truck. Weather was perfect until about 2 hrs before we got back in the truck a week later.

    Re: KTM midsize twins

Saw the 790 Duke in action this weekend, it's a legit weapon that is particularly attractive for tall humans. Very high probability one of these ends up in my garage in the spring. Very little modification; suspension, brakes, some hard parts, and a belly pan and this might be the perfect bike to cover street and track day duties....then maybe take lightweight racing in a couple of years.

Harlan did a 1:15.5 on it during GTL, pretty sure that’s not all we’ll see out of that bike.

Ever hear a old Norton? Second best sounding bike ever. Of course a old Ducati is #1.

I typically don’t like what husqvarna does with lines on a motorcycle, but hot fucking damn does the Norden proto look rad.

It’s geared relatively tall stock, like a motorcycle.
Judging be the wheelie he pulled on the pavement in the beginning, it must be in rally mode, probs at a low setting to allow for plenty of wheel spin.
I can’t read the dash too well from my phone.

saw that...eek...but happy to see it properly challenged in the elements unlike a factory review or a magazine on mellow terrain

I'll give it to the 790R in that it's better than most big bikes, and can hang on a lot of stuff people usually do with little bikes, and there is plenty to ride on a bike like that in socal, and a good rider can make do with a bike like that in terrain like that. But for me, naah...2 bikes; 1 slab, 1 lightest plated dual sport in a truck for big bear (that's a socal spot). Switching to a single bike/790r setup seems fantastic if you're picking and choosing your terrain and avoiding the gnarliest of the gnar

    I want three:
    - Pavement pounder. Mile muncher. Big. Heavy. Built in bags. Bring your stuff. Your wife. The kitchen sink. Whatever. Comfy as the living room couch
    - Tweener. Uncomfortable on the slab. Handful in the tight stuff. Sturdy sub-frame; bring some stuff
    - Woods toy. Light. Simple. Easy peasy. No assists, just a motorbike

    Scratch that, I want four:
    - All the above
    - Track toy. Fast(er). Suspension with the clickers stuck on 11. Sprung to carve; hell over potholes. No luggage. Loud. Obnoxious. An hour of wiring and number plates from being ready to tech for the track

Scratch that, I want five.. er six.. er.. just call me Fabio.

My days of slabbing on a DRZ400 are well behind me. Been there, done that, no thanks.

Besides. I have a plated WR450F that is all that and about 30HP.

You know its spring because I have the itch again. I'm in worse financial shape than ever (who isn't) so it ain't happenin'. But my yoootoobe suggestions sure point the other way. Further evidence that what happens on my intertoobes does not happen in real life.
