ok, the norton commando I didn't get at all...but even @ 42bhp this sort of makes sense..."light, simple, and affordable"...sort of like the FR-S of the bike world?

As a racebike, it's pretty killer looking anyways...but as a roadbike, it falls under the typical KTM Fugly headlights and front end. Looks like they joined to BMW crew to design the front end of this bike

headlight is def love/hate. i think the bike looks great and would be a blast to ride. BUT in true KTM fashion, if it comes to the US it wont sell because they will miss the price point by a mile. a CBR250 or ZX3 is gonna be a few grand cheaper than this. unless of course KTM make a US only version and scraps some of the more expensive bits like forged triple trees and the brembos but it will take more than just that.

It would suck if they don't release it here... most seem to say definitely not 2014 so all we can hope for is a 2015 launch. I'll be first in line for one.

I wrote to Ducati a while back when the Paul Smart and retro bikes were out and told them to use a cylinder from a modern bike and do a retro 450. Imagine if they used half a 899 Panigale and did their version of this KTM.

The duke 390 is supposed to be out in Aug. I really hope this one comes to the US too. There seems to be a resurgence of smaller displacement bikes in the US. Mostly Honda coming in with their street sport bike line of 250/300(future) 500 and 650 to compete directly with Kawasaki. It'd be nice to see Kawasaki bring back an updated 500 again, but the KTM bikes are just beautiful and very low weight.
