So this happened.
First "sport" bike I've had since the 2000 Ducati 900SS I ripped for a couple years.
Came from the NESR family. I think I'll keep it there for a while.
I 'might' register it. Something about being able to take a different bike to work every day of the week is oddly appealing. I have 4 registered right now, what is one more?
Took it out for a ride to gas it up for the winter. She's fast, but sneaky about it. Motor and tranny is buttery smooth. Got it past 9k once, she pulls hard up there. Torque is very linear all the way up.
Clutch is on/off, but easy. I stalled it once. I'm a newb, what can I say. Need to take the MSF again. No torque at low RPM's like the SV, DL, Rex and Vmax. This will take a bit to get used to.
LIGHT, like, lighter than my SV by 4 lbs. With twice the HP. Fun.
Suspension is on it's original fluid at 26k. She's supple. So supple that I found myself doing 70 on my road. Anyone who has been to my house knows how dumb that is. Still handles good when the pavement ends and the dirt starts.
My back was hurting before I got to the end of my driveway. This is NOT a fun weekend bike. All bidniss.
For the winter I'll be going through it like I do all my machines. Steering head bearings, oil change, fork fluid/seal/bushing swap, air filter, throttle body sync (though I heard TLR man touched this bike at one point, so probably not necessary), may get the shock serviced, oil/grease all pivot points, clean electrical connections, lube cables, etc. Going to be a track bike though I'd rather keep it as close to streetable as feasible whole doing so, just in case I want to be in pain while on a ride or DESTROY the Cherohola Skyway at Deal's next year.....
Looking for a spare set of wheels/rotors for it in case anyone has some kicking around. 600/750/1000 from 01-03 should fit.
