But when we ride very fast motorcycles, we ride with immaculate sanity. We might abuse a substance here and there, but only when it's right. The final measure of any rider's skill is the inverse ratio of his preferred Traveling Speed to the number of bad scars on his body. It is that simple: If you ride fast and crash, you are a bad rider. If you go slow and crash, you are a bad rider. And if you are a bad rider, you should not ride motorcycles.

Up until there is snow on the road. And, I don't like to bring the bikes back out in spring until the rain has washed away most of the salt.

How late in the year do you ride?

Usually till first salt, but some one thought they were doing me a favor and turned in the plate for me early. Didn't think that I was going to be able to ride any more this season because of all the side work that I've been doing.

Just means that I will get the plastic stripped off earlier to winter prep and then get the bike to GMD for Peter to work his magic on it.

    I ride all year.
I do not have a car.
I do not usually ride in the snow or if there is lots of ice but I do not have lots of places I have to go now either.

How late in the year do you ride?

My Bike is always ready to ride even if I have to shovel out the trailer to take the bitch out! Just ask Wayne (Firenuts)

Last year I rode 2 times in every winter month! The Dirt bike I had got used a bit on the ice and snow packed trails! That was the balls. I am accually thinking about another Dirt bag to play with over the winter!

Salt will corrode the hell out of Aluminumn if you don't get it completely removed and that is one head ache that I don't want.

I worry more about the sand than the salt, the bikes paint is getting sandblasted full time once you ride after the roads have been sanded. I buy WD40 by the gallon and get a little out of control when i use it so i don't worry about the salk corroding anything
The last 2 years, i don't think i rode at all from the beginning of November, until the beginning of March, but the years before that i was riding to work off and on up until New Years

I think that if you RODE in salt you would know that that statement is NOT true.

I have over 100k miles on my SV and many can attest that I have only washed it no more than 3 times since I bought it new AND I ride in winter salt.

the only corrosion you will find on my SV is from bug splats that were not cleaned and came from SUMMER riding

Randy, at what point do you put your winter rubber on? Is that just for below freezing? I guess what I am asking is when is it too cold to risk using street tires on the roads (assuming dry non icy surface)... There has to be sum temperature at which normal street rubber just aint gonna cut it...
