"no promises" has a next door neighbor that has a 1982 Suzuki GS850, complete with sissy bar. He claims that it will blow the doors off my bike and is capable of 200 mph. Is this guy nuts or what. Talk about being in denial.....![]()
He's blind too, you bike doesn't have doors.. What a wacko.

I suggest that you have him meet you at Deadman's curve in half an hour. Make sure you have lots of grease in your hair, and wear a black leather jacket with lots of zippers.
200 mph???????
Is the guy serious????
I would go out on a limb and say that nobody on this board has a bike capable of that speed. In fact, the only bikes to exceed 200 mph are dragbikes and MotoGP bikes. Or, crazy people who put nitrous cans on their Hayabusas and ZX12s....![]()
Even then, most street tires would rip to shreds if that speed is to be maintained for even a short run. Additionally, where in New England do we have roads straight enough to even attempt such a high speed run????
(in my best Napoleon Dynamite impression)...IDIOT!!!!!!!

Slight problem, I have the leather jacket, could probably find a place called dead man's curve, BUT the slicked up hair is going to be a toughy, unless slicked up arm pit hair counts. God has chosen me to be more aerodynamic by reducing the amount of drag normally caused by hair, bald as a grape......Originally posted by highsider

Yes, of course, it's the Kerker!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually there is an article in Motorcyclist this month, they took a CBR600RR that sounded slightly worked over and had NOS, and they got a bonafide 184mph out of the bike, setting a new class record at Bonneville.
According to those guys, the salt flats drop 10% off the top speed compared to pavement. Which would mean that bike might make 200mph on an appropriate strip of pavement.
Of course the NOS only came in at WOT in 6th gear, and the bike only had 3-4 runs before it was dead.
But... if they did that with a 600 it is not hard for me to believe that some of the worked over Busas are capable of 200.
I believe also in the last year someone went 240+ on a turbo Busa out on the salt flats... pretty shocking speed!
I don't believe the tires are a major issue anyway either... but whatever, this has nothing to do with clapped out 1980s UJMs and the idiots who think those do 200mph.
Yeah, I read the same article Ben.
I just think it's pretty funny that some poor schmuck has actually fooled himself into believeing that his rat trap of a bike will do 200 mph.

so just tell him your bike has naawwws AND a Kirker, too & can do 220... that'll shut him up
But seriously, if he's so friggin hoity toity about his bike blowing yours away then say "man, that thing must haul some serious ASS!... and I thought mine was fast... c'mon lets go for a ride, i want you to kick my ass on the highway."
then blast past him as his engine "um.... had a mixture problem, i need to clean the fuel ionizer wing nut" or some BS

I've seen the above-mentioned bike and I know what it can do.
That bike is capable of speeds in the high 190s. It just needs the right rider.

It will do 200 when he pushes it off the cliff

My next door neighbor has a 1976 KZ900... it's a beautifully restored bike and all custom. It's real nice, don't get me wrong, but he seems to think it is the best bike ever manufactured and it can smoke any / all the new bikes.

Not a problem.. just make sure the cliff is nice and high and suck all the air out of the area ahead of time... it'll go like 10,000mph if you do that.Originally posted by ChrisNoF4i

This sounds like the same type of person who would tell a new rider to get nothing smaller than a 750..
and I quote from my days as a sales rep at RMS " My uncle who has been riding bike for years said that I should get nothing smaller than a 750.. The other bikes do not have enough power for my size."
My reply: Tell your uncle to STFU.. If you buy one of these 600's and let him ride it.. I guartantee he will shit his pants.
People like this guy are dangerous.. They have no clue as to how fast new bikes are and have no concept of speed. Anything over 80MPH must be like 150..

no no no, it will accelerate at -9.8 m/s^2, i bet terminal velocity for that thing, being rather dense and all, would be over 200 mph.

Again, I point you to the incident with the other Oreo character. People will talk. They will say things that appear untrue. But they are wonderful entertainment. Embrace the comedy. Make love, not war.
