leaving barebones insurance on a bike

I realize this is not the usual time of the season to ask this, but I am curious what you guys do over the winter with your bikes. What is the least amount of $$ I can pay while still retaining some level (mostly fire, theft) on the bike?

My insurance company (Commerce) wont allow me to keep my plates without insurance....at least that's what my agent said and I have believed it.

its too much Mass. Registry hassle to turn off and on the Insurance ...

its only like $250-$500 (depending on your coverage) anyway for the year isnt it?

I ride Jello all year so I have to have insurance here.

I do not think mine covers any of that?
Infact, I do not think mine covers me getting hurt.

In NH you can put storage insurance - basically it is comprehensive part... for like $90 for 6 months.

With cold weather gone in for few days in the winter usually the roads are so cruddy up with salt, sand etc... its not worth trashing your bike over..
