Is this legal?

    Is this legal?

There will be another next to it. Secured with pitbull TRS and a few straps for safety’s sake. Driving to Miami.

Nope. I asked my buddy about that who is a cop and he told me no haha. I was looking to do the same thing. He's a pretty down to earth guy and said he'd definitely pull me over.

    Re: Is this legal?

I would hope your going to be beefing things up abit. I dont think the trunk lid would take too many NYC potholes.
Legality wise the only thing I could see them saying anything about is them not being properly secured or in the south they will look much harder for things like overweight load so they can fine you. I wouldn't be to surprised to be flagged into some weigh stations for inspection. It's a long ride and your sure to get noticed at some point and the ex-cruiser isnt going to help.

God on the other hand will be playing havoc with you with crosswinds and such. I would imagine it to be an interesting handling car at times.

I dunno, looks secured better than some folks here do on a trailer with an eyebolt thru knotty wood and not to the frame

Roof racks are ok. I was thinking this would be on par with that.

Was something like carrying a load vehicle was not designed for. Can't you just throw a 125gp bike in the trunk lol?

That’s where the spare bike is.

After sitting at the car on the lift and debating what other vehicle to take, we decided to start drilling for the TRS plates.

I’m driving another truck back from there so we wanted a car we could leave down there.

Interesting. Did he mention what the law is? Something about improperly secured load maybe? That'd be my best guess. But for just a trip down 95 once, I might roll the dice on having to explain to an officer or two how it was set up and that some effort was put in to it.

Most owners manuals have a maximum weight on the roof rack and I want to say it's typically in the 150-250lb range. And that's usually to some specific mount point, not a tire bouncing off your roof directly. But I'm sure there's a safety margin in that number

I almost choked on my drink.

If you take the wheels and fairing off, will one fit in the back seat?

Cheap deck trailer and sell it once you get down there, or give it away?

Edit: Crown vic might have a shot at a front-mount hitch receiver. Then put a hitch hauler on both ends of the car?

I have a cheap one that I’ve had for sale that I could pretty much give away. But it’s one more variable that we don’t need.

Believe me, that was a serious thought at one point.

Have we met? I don’t remember. I don’t understand how we wouldn’t have been friends.
