I'll give you the obligatory "call Hobbs" or "call Chiappisi (sp?)" response..................I figure either of them will know how to get a bike at auction as that is what they do day to day. Other than that I'm in the same boat as you ae in regards to buying from an auction.

i've used copart in the past, mainly for cars though, but did get to check oout the bikes they had up for auctions. It's always best if you can actually go to the facility and check out the car/bike yourself. I haven't had a bad experience yet with them.

Yeah they are. They're trying to sell salvage-titled bikes for the same price as ones with clean titles.

I'll echo this sentiment. Only used Copart to buy trailers and such, but never used it for non-local purchases. Their location in Billerica gets a few bikes every couple weeks, but they're kind of slim right now. It's pretty cool to see the live online auction.. Bids coming from all over the world. Last time I went on there, I got in a bidding war once with someone from Georgia (Republic of).

you should also check out copart's south boston and mendon mass facility. The one in mendon is a good drive but man LOADS of bikes and great cars. but you need to do the bidding online.
