wtf is that?Originally posted by Kham
crap
just a dirty intake valve.
Kham, when are gonna put away the lego tool kit and ride the damn thing before you really fuck it up bad?
They all end up like that after a few k. Looks a little wet with oil or gas, but that could just be the light shining off of it.Originally posted by Degsy

wanna help me fix it first?
well compressions are good and timing is good. i rule out the engine. kind of relieve but don't know what the heck is wrong now.
"fuckit!"
What is it doing wrong?
rides like crap. hesitate, stumble, etc. when im moving.
it revs fine when in neutral.
fuel distribution?
the coil, cam sensor, crank sensor checked out fine. i just got new plugs. so i'll put it all back and test out again by weekend.
what else
"fuckit!"
Check your fuel flow from the fuel pump, if it's bad then work backwards until you find the source of the problem.
Clean and oil your airfilter.
Pull and clean your spark plugs.
Synch your throttle bodies.
That's a start.
there is a procedure to check fuel pump pressure but i'm afraid it's only when bike is in neutral. the bike revs fine in neutral. so...
the plug, i just got them new... so will put it back together and see if any better by weekend.
sync throttle body - not sure how yet. i didn't take it apart. the whole assy is removed and put back.

wow. add some lube and that looks like some thing Pete could really enjoy

If I get another fuckin' bike stolen...
oh you said "fuel flow". that's different then the pressure. will that determine pump problem more accurately?
"fuckit!"
04 ZX10's had a problem with oil starvation on the primary supply journal in the generator mainshaft. Not sure if its announced, but the 05 has a much larger design.
The symptoms are some weird noises, but also considerable parasitic loss on the engine at varying intervals depending how hard its being revved.
It doesen't sound like thats whats up here, maybe, but im not sure exactly what is going on with your bike cause it sounds like everything is a little odd.
It's simple really Kham it's a kawasaki.
Honda would never do that.

Techron fuel additive will get rid of the intake valve deposits. Mine looked like that the first time I pulled the carbs. Just before I pulled them the second time, I used a tank full of Techron treated gas and the valves were clean. Neat stuff.
If you bike revs fine with no load but runs poorly under load, I'd have to agree with the fuel delivery problem prognosis.

i was told just run couple tank full of 87 octant should also clean those right out. bet you didn't know that. 93 octant deposit alll that crap there.
"fuckit!"
It'll knock and ping like a bastard on 87 octane and possibly hole a piston. Don't do that. Pretty sure it requires a minimum 91 (R+M)/2 octaneOriginally posted by Kham

You are right though, it's the cotane boosters in the fuel that leave those deposits. Another reason not to run higher octane than you need.
would it be ok if i don't load the engine with low octant? just statyed on first gear?
problem for using higher than needed octant is there are either 89 or 93 at the pump. which would you go for? i rearly see 91.
edit; not problem i mean reason for using ....
"fuckit!"
I always use the 93. A tank of Techron treated gas now and then takes care of the valve deposits.
My 9R pings on 91 (a careful mix of 87 and 93 in a 2:3 ratio, well OK so it's only 90.6 octane).
so who's got zx10 i can borrowed fuel pump?

Did you follow the procedure to check the fuel pressure and find that the pressure was low?Originally posted by Kham

If it revs fine in neutral but runs poorly when riding, then it is an 'under load' problem. Probably electrical, very likely a spark plug or the REG/REC. Might even be the ECU, especially if it got wet. Look for a bad ground also. Do you have a power commander?
If it runs for a while (at least 1/4 mile or so) before it starts to act up, look into fuel delivery problem (bad pump, blocked airhole in the fuel cap)
You could also have blocked or partially blocked fuel injectors, especially if you have been running 93 in it. Run some fuel injector cleaner through it in a full tank of fuel. Run something through to clean up them valves also.
Have you added an exhaust system without a power commander? Are the exhaust tips dark and sooty?
derek
Any fuel will leave those deposits. Maybe some more than others. When the intake valves close, there is in most engines still a moving mass of air fuel mix. It has nowhere to go except up against the back of the valve because of its' own inertia. Then what is left essentially dries up {sort of}. After awhile enough builds up to be seen, and indeed affect air flow. Using a high detergent additive like Techron, as Stoinky suggested, is about the only thing you can do, short of physically cleaning the valves.
I have heard good things about "Berrymans" additive also. You can get both Techron and Berrymans at W-M. Once engines go the direct injection route, you won't see that anymore.
not yet. i have to get fuel pressure first. they sell them in store right?Originally posted by Honclfibr
